I gave this a quick try on my hunter before switching over to bear in 3.1.

As far as I can tell it behaves like this when it's on autocast against mobs:

Non-mana user - Will never use pummel
Mana user - Use pummel first chance it gets regardless of if a cast is occuring or not.

Was not able to try it vs. a player, but I'm guessing it behaves the same.

I have Pummel set to the middle mouse button, it's great in ZG where you need an interrupt to stop a few of the bosses self-heals.

It is a spell, so it can go through Hand of Protection, however that also means it can resist from spell resistance values.
It's really nice to be able to pummel a cast even if the hunter is cc'd, casting, or not in LoS. (interrupt a frostbolt while deep frozen for example)
Another annoyance is that after it pummels a target, or even if you just tell it to, it will continue attacking until another command is given.
ON A TENACITY PET. Since you really have to use one for pvp.
Overall very nice ability, though situational.

I have done my best to provide Map Mouseovers for each and every beast, wherever possible!
Unfortunately some do not yet have maps, but these will automatically be added to this post when they're added to the NPC's page.

Shakes the ground with thundering force, doing Nature damage to all enemies within 8 yards.
Can be learned by: Gorilla.

Does anyone know if this generates enough aggro to hold all the mobs for the duration of a Volley? If so this makes the Gorilla the better pet for farming.

Thunder stomp holds enough aggro for a multishot and most of a volley at least. I like to gather the mobs (easy green mobs) with my pet (at least 1 growl per mob) and then once I have 3 or 4 together I hit thunderstomp and then I can hit multishot and volley. Sometimes 1 or 2 mobs will peel off before volley is done, but I can usually get a second multishot in before they do. At that point they're all pretty much dead and it's just clean-up.

Gorilla is BY FAR the best farming pet.

there is no limit to the number of enemies it can hit so you can stack em up big if you're doing low lvl farming.
