Much better than Breastplate of the Black Knight, it was weird, after equipping it, I couldn't equip gloves, shoulders, boots or pants!

Alliance equivalent for this item is Breastplate of the White Knight.
While it has a same name (among stats) it has different race restrictions, which mess up i.e. DKP databases if not linked correctly.

For Death Knight tanks at least, as of patch 3.2.2, this is second only to (Heroic) Hauberk of Towering Monstrosity and (Heroic) Koltira's Chestguard of Triumph in terms of stats. Those two items are iLevel 258 however. Compared to Koltira's Chestguard of Triumph, the 245 tier piece, I would have to say that Breastplate of the White Knight has the edge. The Breastplate is a great item, and I'm sure more will be seen in the near future as Crusader Orbs can now be purchased for 15 Emblems of Triumph.

As for other plate tanks, well, this is still an amazing item. However, I myself can't make the comparison as to whether this would be better than the 245 Warrior or Paladin tier though.

Not sure how you came up with that reasoning, https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/compare=47254;48557;47592 . That compares 3 relatively easy to obtain chest pieces, none from heroic. I'd take the 8.42 full expertise on Hauberk of the Towering Monstrosity over the 1.23% parry and 1 socket for the price of these materials. I agree it is better, but only marginally considering the materials.

This is a side-grade for most equivalent tier pieces, and since the tier chest comes from the same emblems as the orbs needed for this, I doubt we will see many of these until late in the patch where Crusader Orbs are everywhere.

Would cost about 7k on my server (Jaedenar EU), with the Titansteel Bars about 180g each and the Crusader Orbs about 500g each, Majestic Zircon ~120g each, and the Eternal Life ~18. Of course farming the Titansteel, and the orbs (via emblems) would reduce the cost to almost nothing.

I envy your server... In scarshield legion they go for 850-1200g each, making the cost of the breastplate (if you buy every mat) more than 10k

My DK is very happy with this :) 90stam gems+168 base, 258 stam on chest piece is very nice.

Heres a comparison between the 50 Emblem of Triumph Liadrin's Chest piece. It's far better, not sure if its worth the price tag though?

Hey guys, this is my first comment, so I thought I'd start with a good one.
I had Liadrin's Breastplate of Conquest, and I saw this as a huge upgrade, but the price tag totally wasn't worth it.

But I thought for a bit, and came to a solution.
I'm a herbalist, so I got Eternal Life x 8 for free.
A tip for people who aren't herbalists, you can go on Auction House and farm up Crystallized Life in 3's or so, people get them from instances and just nail them on AH without thinking twice.

I had some triumphs laying around, so I bought those Crusader Orbs x 8.
Usually tanks like to sell themselves for heroics, take advantage and 3 runs for 10g each = 30g for an Orb.

Now, the tricky part, Two Majestic Zircons?
I browsed WoWHead and found out they sell for 10k honor each at Lady Planseer. (Alliance alternative is Captain O'Neal)
You can also bypass the honor problem if you have a few Stonekeeper Shards laying around, with Wintergrasp Commendation.
(You can also get them off your Triumph Vendor if you wish to downgrade your badges and have some to spare.)

And last but not least, the infamous Titansteel Bars.
You can look around on your Trade Channel for a deal, or Auction House, but I generally went to a friend who sold me them for 75g each. (down from 225g/each on AH)
Or if you're a miner yourself, you can smelt them, buy cooldowns, or transmutes.

So in the end, "Is it really worth it's price tag?"
More like, "Does it really need that much of a price tag?" to me.
All in all, I only spent maybe 800g for this, and I'm very content with it, it popped me over 5k GS.
