I just tamed Arcturis. 7:20p EST on Khaz Modan. He was also tamed at approximately 7:20a EST. So if that holds true, it looks like he is on a 12-hour cycle at the moment. Same place as mentioned. Between the road just outside Amberpine Lodge and the stream with all the bears. Happy hunting all!

Spawned for me today at 30,56, half way down the hill between Amberpine Lodge and the Waterfall. (Right on top of the "ber" of Amberpine Lodge on your map)

As far as I can tell, this seems to be the only spot that he does spawn at. I had be looking where ever Grizzley Bears were found as well.

**Don't be like me and look for him for 2 days and forget that he is an exotic pet and requires you to have the Beast Mastery talent...luckily I had leveled last night and had talent point to spend when I logged on.

I think he has more than one spawn point but nobody's flying around to find him at other locations. Someone mentioned Grizzlemaw as one of the places he spawns and I flew over there. North of Grizzlemaw is an area with other grizzly bears, so it makes sense he'd spawn in that area.

Here's what I know for Kargath.

(7:30pm) I signed on and checked right after the patch let me on (without DCing), no sign of the bear.

(7:30am) Came back 12 hours later (thinking it was a 12 hour timer) and camped for 30-60 minutes. The bear popped up and another hunter starting taming before I could.

(5:30pm) And you have tamed, 10 hours after that occured.

There have been some rolling restarts. But other hunters and I have been camping this spot nearly nonstop and no sign of the bear since. It's been over 48 hours.

I'm trying to find more information on him, but he's too new to really know much. People have stated just about every kind of theory there is. One spawning location, multiple spawning locations (rumored Chillmaw), 6 hour timer, 12 hour, 12-24 hour, 36 hour, won't spawn if you're near or on the ground, he shares a timer with the other rare spawns in the area...

Well, I personally killed all three of the other rare spawns. Syreian first, Seething Hate a few (maybe 4?) hours later, finally Grocklar about 6 hours after killing Seething Hate... No sign of the bear. While camping the spot, another hunter went out to look for rares and found Seething Hate. So Syreian likely spawned again already and was killed... Yet no bear!

It has been over 12 hours since killing those rares too.

Regarding no spawn if people are too close to his point... not true. Perhaps it lengthens his spawn timer. But both times I saw him, it was just me and one other hunter and the other hunter was right on top of the spawning location where the bear was in melee range of them when he popped up.

I don't even want to tame or kill. Just want to help the other hunters that are waiting (hey guys :3) and figure out some concrete information so I can help my boyfriend tame the bear eventually...

UPDATE: After 72+ hours, the bear spawned. A new hunter had entered the area about an hour before. My friends and I tried to reason with him and tell him that we all were going to take turns, especially since some of us waited for over 24 hours without sleep for this bear. He would have none of it - that he would kill it before letting it be tamed by someone else.
The bear spawned just after 9:30pm and I began taming immediately. The jerk-hunter tried to pull it from me, so I pulled it back. We went back and forth like this until the bear died. I was able to loot.

UPDATE #2: Finally got the bear tamed! For my friend that is. :) It happened around 6:45pm... 21 hours after it was last seen (the spot was camped nonstop by me so I know there were no other spawns at the Lodge location. Other spawning places? I have no idea...)

I recommend continually killing the annoying Tallhorn Stag that spawns there - it might get caught in your trap when you go to tame Arcturis, and this guy hits HARD even at level 75 without a trap while taming. So get rid of the one stag that pats on that slope - Arcturis will spawn right beside him right out in the open clearing on the slope.

BTW - this guy leaves big, lighting-white footsteps that rise up off the ground when he's walks. Awesome-sauce if I do say so :)

Friendly reminder: this is Wowhead, not Twitter. Check out their handy guide! Specifically:

The comments that just say "I tamed him at the same place everyone else did" aren't really useful. Confirming another spawn point WOULD be incredibly helpful for everyone still camped out, as no other locations were found on the PTR.
Rare spawns are not on fixed timers. There is probably some upper limit on how long it can be, but otherwise it's random. This should be pretty clear from people on some servers finding him within hours of the patch while others go days (I waited 62 hours for his first appearance on Feathermoon US -- 22 hours after our last rolling restart) or more.
Rare spawns are not linked to other rares in the zone. Two or more can be up at the same time, if the first one up goes unkilled for long enough.

It's in everyone's benefit to keep the signal-to-noise ratio up and make the useful information easy to find. Cheers and good luck to everyone still camping. I was uncertain if he was worth the missed emblems, to say nothing of the sleep deprivation, but he really does look better in game than in static screenshots. Named him Kerensky, seemed appropriate for a ghost bear that shoots frickin' laser beams. ;)

Both this bear and Arcturus Mengsk were probably named for the star Arcturus. Third brightest in sky, in the constellation Bootes, and means "Guardian of the Bear" in Greek.

There are at least two confirmed spots according to Thottbot and a few comments here. One on the cliff southwest of Grizzlemaw at 47.47 and the other at Amberpine by the River at 30.56, which seems to be the popular sighting spot.

I'd still say that it's safe to assume that there is at least one more spot to be discovered aside from those two. My guesses based on the trend from the previous spirit beasts would be that it's other spawn points will have some commonality with the type of animal it is. In this case since it's a bear, the third spot will likely be either near other preadators of it's kind or near a common food source (rivers/lakes with fish), or that it's near some major point in the zone having to do with bears (Grizzlemaw, Ursoc's Den) etc....

The logic would follow if you think of Loque'nahak for example whose spawn points are all either near food in Sholozar (Rhinos, birds, gorillas, giraffes) or near places with several cats in the zone. The same is true more or less for Gondria, IE near cats or cats & bears in ZD, and the same being true for Skoll, a spirit wolf, whose commonality is that he's near three of the graveyards in Storm Peaks..... I'd take a gamble our third spot will either be somewhere near Ursoc's Den or Ashwood Lake.

Hey - thanks for the update on the 2nd spawn location. Someone on my server said they saw him there too, but I could never get a second confirmation.

THEORY: (NOT CONFIRMED YET)

I think there's another spawn location on the snowy, mountainous area just to the west of Rage Fang Shrine, up a little into the hilly area. There's a lot of bears patting around the snow there, and lots of little hiding spots which would be perfect for Arcturis to hang out in.

I've been patrolling the whole Grizzly Hills zone in between my Random Dungeon Finder queues trying to help other people find and tame him. If I find him elsewhere, I'll let you guys know.

The Amberpine spot has too much competition now to bother trying to tame him there (at least on my server), so I'm trying to help a buddy find him in one of the other spot(s).

When I'm able to tame him I'll repost and include a screen. Also to any other posts or parties reading this for the purposes of taming, PLEASE use the wowhead looter addon, as it will update wowhead with the most current information regarding this spawn which will benefit us all.

36 Edit: 96+ hours camping Amberpine 30.55, seven 2-Liters of Mountain Dew & half a carton of cigarettes, and 5 days, with less than 16 hours total sleep. Patrolling to rage fang, 47.55 then to, 47.47 at Grizzlemaw before patting up to Ursoc's Den all the while heading back to camp Amberpine while praying someone didn't get the spawn or kill him during a patrol lap, utterly nervewracking. A bunch of dead alliance & horde players attempting to encroach on my spot and an ally within the alliance killing off my own horde competion? Priceless.

For rarespawns there is NPCscan & Silver Dragon. For everything else to insure you'll be murderously raging while playing, there's only other players on Smolderfail....

On a very serious note, I'm offering a ridiculously valuable bounty to the (horde) player who may manage to spot Arcturis, or Skoll and keep them alive for me until I've tamed them I'm not stating what this item is, other than it's T9+ quality, and worth several thousand gold. I've got two of these items sitting in my personal banks to reward the players responsible for assiting me tame him. Interfering or threats to kill however will not be rewarded at all.

Just tamed Arcturis at 11:50 am server time, on Azjol Nerub.
I was waiting at mentioned spawn point (32,56) Amberpine lodge, just between those letter if you look at the map.
She spawned abit further down some trees near river at (31,55)
then my NPC SCAN went off, while I was watching youtube and reading info on wowhead.

There was only me camping at the area, at the time. Been camping for about 3 hours since i logged in. She is neutral and yellow like the tallhorn stag nearby.

I just tamed Arcturis on the Steamwheedle Cartel -EU server at 01:20am at the known spawn point near Amberpine Lodge. I know that some other hunters have been on and off looking for him, so from what I've seen from previous tames on my server, a 24 max hour spawn timer seems about right.

And best of luck to every other hunter out there, especially on realms with tightly camped spawn points.

I still prefer Loque's look to all of these new spirit beasts. I still find myself camping Arcturis, however, while queueing for Random dungeons, but I wish it was for more than just it being rare.

Maybe if it were actually a bear, or maybe if the super-rare spirit beasts were actually the best dps pets in the game, it would be more satisfying to tame one. They are almost just a fancy vanity pet imo.

Not sure if its a bug, intended, or just because of the way his body position is sometimes when he attacks, but he appears to actually pounce sometimes when using Charge like he does when you first pull him untamed. Can anyone else confirm they are seeing this?

I had just tamed this amazing spirit beast. 3:10am server time on Sargeras. I had been waiting right above his spawn point for nearly five hours before he finally spawned, so any rumors regarding this mob not spawning because of nearby players are entirely false. I had created a macro that would target him then use Scorpid Sting on him (imo this sting is the best move to tag him with; it doesn't really hurt him , and lowers the chance he will hit you while you tame.) The macro, needless to say, worked perfectly. Even without the macro, he was a very distinguishable mob and made a very noticeable appearance. You should have no trouble at all spotting this mob.

I just wanted to add this considering nobody else has yet, if you look at Arcturis fairly close once tamed, you will see that his heart beats once very 5seconds or so, and you then see the shockwave from the heart-beat ripple on his spectral skin! Really is an excellent addition to the spirit beast family. Once again, tamed North of amberpine lodge, just down the slope, near the river.

I had a friend tame him saturday at 8 pm.

I camped his spawn location for around 15ish hours on sunday.
He did not spawn untill 10am Monday morning.

As soon as i logged on i saw a blood elf paladin killing him, whom had been camping the spot ealier the previous day. :(

Just helped an Orc hunter tame this on my 73 Nelf hunter at 2:55pm on Ghostlands @ Amberpine local.
I believe I read in an earlier post that Arcturis was level 75, but the one this Orc just tamed was lvl 74. Hope this has helped.

Tamed Arcturis approx 11:55 this morning, server time on Doomhammer. I've noticed he still runs at normal speed while stealthed, which I'm sure Blizz will fix soon. Also looks really neat while in Bestial Wrath. Found him just above Amberpine, it's the only spawnpoint I know he's got. GL guys.

Follow up: I just tamed him, he's lvl 75...... He spawns halfway down the hill by Amberpine Lodge, directly between the lodge and the river, He spawned at 3:19am on 12/22/09, and by the info I've put together he should respawn at roughly 11:19am, or 3:19 pm today. at 31.08-55.66

After collecting all the spirit beasts and completing the Frostbitten achievement my two cents would be DO NOT kill yourself camping a location. Almost all the rares I have ever found were found near the top of the hour and EVERY single time I found a spirit beast (Loque = 6 times, Gondria = 6 times, Skoll = 5 times, Arcturis = 2 times) it close to the top of the hour (on average 5 minutes before or after the hour). I spent hours and hours and hours killing my self trying to get Loque over a period of 3 months but after I noticed the times I was finding other rare spawns it took much less time overall and I was able to find them faster. Many people give a lot of misinformation based on theory and I just want to add my opinion with the experiance I have. I know it is all based on luck but after I started noticing the time it took me 22 min total to get Gondria, 9 minutes total to get Skoll and 19 minutes total to get Arcturis. Do yourself a favor and check at the top of the hour and spare your sanity.

I see hunters from both factions fly around, but I have been there on and off all day. A BE hunter lands and we wave to each other.

On the other screen boss fight in Nexus. Suddenly I hear fanfair as NPCSCAN goes off. OMG ! Arcturis ! I melee swing and tag it. Drop a frost trap. OMG I BROKE THE TRAP ! CRUD... Run around, cant feign death other hunter will get it..... another trap down.. NOOO I BROKE THAT ONE TOO...almost dead..Arcturis almost dead...CRUD ! ASPECT OF MONKEY ! Tame beast.... GOT IT!

I die.

I run back rez, call pet, and THERE HE IS!

I got this awesome beast a few days ago, tried to keep it a secret for a friend of mine but a hordie beat him to the punch >_<. anyway i was messing with tgc loot cards and i remembered i had Party G.R.E.N.A.D.E. so i took a picture of a druid and Arcturis Dancing Enjoy =P

Okay, I was camping and waiting around for Arcturis this afternoon and ended up missing Arcturis "spawning". I went AFK at about 3pm, but came back to my keyboard 20min after 3pm PST (Velen server time), to see NPCscan had alerted me of Arcturis. So i went looking for Grocklar, found him about an hour after i got back to the computer.

Now I'm not completely sure it was an Arcturis spawning, as it could have easily been another hunter going by with Arcturis out, as his pet. But I do know I went AFK at the hour, and 20min later i came back and NPCscan had gone off, and most sighting's I've heard of occur at or around the hour. Which makes sense, if I found Grocklar patrolling his southern pattern, just an hour or so after I got back to my computer.

I was standing directly beneath the "R" in Amberbine. I'll check the coordinates when I log back on, but do know that NPCscan will go off when the NPC comes within about 100 yards of you, so that's a good bit of distance.

I just tamed him at 7:45a on Maiev, at 31,55, right next to the small bush which is where he spawned under me. NPC sanner did go off. Another horde hunter showed up about 15 seconds after I tamed him; the only other player I have seen in this area in the 2 days I've been checking for this guy. Sorry Semmy. =( That completes taming all 4 spirit beasts and getting TLPD! =D

GOT HIM! Came out of a finished Random Heroic, and the loading screen went away and BOOM! There he was! But I was freakin' out, cause I was still in my MM spec, but I tagged him, dropped the freezing trap then of course, then changed to BM. I had to get my mana back, had me some honeymint tea, dropped another freezing trap, couldn't tame him... cause i still had a my temporary pet, who was dead. So i got my mana up, rezzed my pet, abandoned him and proceeded to tame him. Fortunately there were no other hunters around, which there have been about 3 alliance side hunters, and a couple other Horde side hunters (i'm currently and Orc), who have been camping with me for the past few days.

Tamed him at:
Coords: 31, 57
Time: 1:54PM PST (Velen server time)

He was walking back and forth between the two trees where the large shadow lays half way up the hill.

And just as I stated in my previous post, I found him the day before at 3PM, but didn't get to tame him. I did not stay up at the 12 hour mark to see if he would spawn at 3am server time. Though I did kill Grocklar yesterday, but have yet to find Syreian The Bonecarver. I'm still going to keep an eye out for him. I'll also be helping a fellow hunter find Arcturis again, so that he may tame him.

Just tamed him on my 75 Hunter. Been trying since a week or so before Xmas. Now getting my sights on Loq and then Skoll. Trick to this is just to be patient.
He spawned at 31, 56 give or take a few yards. Frost Trap and Tamed away, had no worries.

I saw Acrturis 3 day ago in a battle ground I didnt even know that there was a new spirit beast. The hunter wouldnt give me any info on its location so looked him up, got the location and camped him North of Amberpine Lodge about a hour no luck. About 8 hours later camped him again for about a hour no luck. Today about 0930 Eitrigg server logged on my hunter hung around about 30 and said screw it then about to log and said to myself 10 more min and what do you know he spawned right befor my eyes. Camped Loque for five days got him, wasnt looking for Gondria was grinding my pally and ran across him tamed, and last but not least Acrturis 2 hour 30 min camp got him (Priceless) Im humble but also very happy good luck fellow hunters.

Just tamed him today - 6:51 PM server time, Thorium Brotherhood. After having been logged in pretty much all day, I took a half hour break, then logged in again and as soon as I logged my _NPCScan went off and he was right next to me. A freezing arrow and a tame beast later and I had my new bear that's not a bear :)
Coordinates of 31,55 were pretty much spot on.

I camped him for over 7 hours starting at 2am (Lothar Realm) and tamed at 9:15am at the cords listed a number of times (31,55).

Alright everyone lets stop with the "I tamed him and it was awesome" posts, we're all trying to tame this guy (atleast i hope we all are) so lets get down what we can and cannot confirm about this guy.

What i can confirm about camping this guy is that:

1. He only appears to have one spawn point.

This may seem a bit odd that such an amazing pet has only 1 spawn point taking out the aimless flying around in circles hoping for him to spawn, but its pretty clear what blizzard have done here.

They haven't hidden him away like the other spirit beasts, only to be found by the lucky questers and devoted hunters, they have put him out in plain sight, meaning he is found be EVERYONE.

Blizzard are making other players your worst enemy in taming this beast and i could ramble on about all the times this has effected me but that wouldn't help anyone.

2. Appears to have a MINIMUM of a 12 hour cooldown, he could spawn anywhere from on the 12 hour mark or hours later, just comes down to luck and how devoted you are.

3. Is a spirit beast with all the spirit beast skills (prowl, spirit strike etc)

4. Is a DPS pet not a TANKING pet, this supprised me and alot of other hunters, don't know why because it was pretty clear that he was going to be just another spirit beast.

5. Looks amazing and the fact that we can have a ghost bear dpsing for us should be enough for any hunter to atleast want this guy to show off.

6. Macros and addons are really not needed, just get into a place where you can see the from the water to the trees and he'll pop up in your line of vision sooner or later, remember he is a rarther large shiny bear.

7. Is, like every other spirit beast, a neutral mob.

8. Most recorded spawns see him at lvl 74.

9. Is just a repeat of 5, he really does look very nice.

This is all i've gathered so far, please can we start putting in usefull posts about this mob.

3 days, 3 noted spawns, 6 horde, 0 tames (for anyone)

I finally got this beauty tamed today (30/12-09 on Al'akir) around 4pm at his spawn point close to Amberpine Lodge.

I was actually out shopping leaving my wow on and having my boyfriend look at it now and then. I got so sad when I came home seeing that SilverDragon had noticed the spirit beast two hours ago and that my boyfriend had missed him. He was just fooling me around and tricked me into looking in my stables and there he was.

I spent the whole day yesterday and today camping the spawn point outside of Amberpine Lodge. I had Track Beast on at all time and was just standing still in the sky looking over the hill where he spawns. Now and then when I felt that I could I flew over to Ursoc's Den and Grizzlemaw since I've read that he might spawn there as well. I didn't do this too often though.

Before I wanted to get Skoll but after I found him killed by a passing Alliance I got heartbroken and flew over to find me this bear since he "might" just have one spawn point, which means I don't need to worry about if he spawns at other places.

Good luck to all other hunters who are trying to get this pet. He's a beauty.

I just have to add this-
Many of you say that the "I found him!" posts are unhelpful- but I must disagree! I find them extremely helpful in my hunt for Arcturis. First- they show when he was last found on certain realms, which tells me I can relax for a while when my realm is mentioned. Secondly, they help me see a better spawn time- especially when they are from the same realm in a row!

I'm not saying they shouldn't be down-graded to save space, I'm just saying that I do, in fact, think of them as a handy tool!

Started chatting and he spawned right before my eyes! 31,55... Above the R in Amberpine Lodge. OMG There was 3 other hunters popping on and off at his spot. Well, it was about time I got this lucky. I have no patience for camping rare spawns at all, but I was really really bored and decided to take a BM offspec to try for this awesome bear spirit beast. I sat at his spawn place for maybe 45 minutes and logged out (new year's eve and all).

Logged in at 8:30 AM EST today and he was already spawned waiting there for me on a platter.

So, I spent exactly 45 minutes to get this guy :D rofl.

Just ontop of the "ER" in "AmbERpine"

I had two friends helping out, one a hunter and one a mage. Bear was never spotted around Grizzlemaw even after 14 hours of camping in that location by a patient friend.

After 22 hours of steady camping in my spot just under the lodge, between the road and the river he spawned right on top of me. Took three tries to tame as he does hit pretty hard (I have nearly 20k HP and he took me down to 1/3 of my HP) but worth it to have a cool looking new pet :)

Finally! Found him close to the river by Amberpine. He had recently spawned couse i logged on my alt 20 seconds before but then i decided to logg in and there he was! As i were 80 i dint drop a freezing trap. He hit kinda much when he had pounce hits for 1500 i was suprised but i got him

Maelstrom server! Tamed Arcturis on my hunter Tofuu today(January 4th 09) at 1:31am server time.

Camped for a few hours the night before, camped on and off for 20ish mins ever few hours the next morning, two hour break, camped from 11:30 am server until 10pm server when I was getting disheartened and went to do ICC 10, came back did a few randoms and started questing while checking back every 20 minutes or so. Strange coincidence, like an above poster I was also on my way back to turn in the Bear god quest when I stopped by the river and Arcturis spawned right on top of me.

EDIT: Npc Scan did NOT go off, even though my cache was cleared out. I used the target and whisper macro above, but added in a /cast for arcane shot rank 2 so that it damaged him slightly and tagged him upon targetting.

Tamed him at 8:28am server time on Anvilmar (alliance) on 1/4/10, just above the "R" in Amberpine. Watched him spawn right in front of my eyes! I had been signing on every hour at the top of the hour for the last few days in hopes to see him. A lot of previous posts said that was the best time for rare spawns. I'd sign in and wait 20 minutes or so then sign off. There had been a few other hunters camping him along with me the past few days, but I was the only one around this time so I decided to stay a bit longer. Glad I did. So excited to finally get this guy. His exact spawn point for me was about 20ft to the left of the clump of trees as your looking downhill, about even with the small bush and on the uphill side. Stand on the little flat spot of ground on the hillside and look downhill toward the stream. Hope that helps.

Hello pet hunter's! my name is Araillia on the RP/PVP server ravenholdt, i have been a pet fanatic for a long time and i decided awhile back to devote alot of my time to hunting rares (and horde) i have quit a log of spawn times for several spawns on my server i hope it helps!
spawn times and dates without question marks are the ones i have personally seen the ones with question marks are reported times.
A quick note to hunters looking for arcturis, IMO arcturis is a "gimmie" to all those BM hunters that either dont have the time or patience to hunt rares.

EDIT: I am changing this entire comment based on new findings.

This info is what I have observed for the past several days.

On my realm I camped for 41.5 hours straight and witnessed the following:

Arcturis spawned at 1:02am Thursday morning server time. (An opposite faction hunter killed him to stop me from taming)

Arcturis spawned at 2:30am Friday morning server time. (I tamed him with an 80 hunter of opposite faction over my head AFK -I was lvl 74)

At this point my 24 hr daily coverage ended and I merely have been logging in talking to hunters camping him every day and night. Here are my continued observations.

Arcturis spawned around 2:00am roughly Saturday morning server time. (I was alt tabbed checking every 20 min or so and the hunter who was 80 and AFK the night before when I tamed him got him this night.. specifically I alt tabbed out around 1:55am and came back at 2:25am and it had spawned and was tamed because NPCScan alerted me when I tabbed BACK into the game!) I check combat log and spoke with said hunter and she told me she logged in and he was already there so she tamed him at 2:15am)

Arcturis spawned SUNDAY morning somewhere during the night as he was wondering around untamed or unkilled at 4:00am server time.

-==From 4 days of observations I conclude he is on roughly at 24 hour cycle, NOT EXACT, but in the general time.=--
-==Also it appears that server startup time has no direct correlation with the spawn time but for the record: Server came online from weekly maintenance at 1:00 pm server time Tuesday and was restarted at 7:25am and came back online 7:30am server time, Thursday morning.

I will continue to check every night that I can remember to do so and update this post!

Hopefully you all will uprate this comment so that it stands out as I believe it's the only one that has many spawn times (2 exact and 2 non-exact)

TL;DR:

-Server came online on Tuesday 1:00pm server time.
-Witnessed Arcturis spawn at 1:02am server time on Thursday morning.
-Server restarted at 7:25am server time and came back online at 7:30am Thursday morning.
-Witnessed Arcturis spawn at 2:30am server time on Friday morning.
-Arcturis spawned between 1:55am and 2:25 server time on Saturday morning(and was tamed at 2:15am according to hunter I spoke with who was in my combat log)
-Arcturis spawned during the morning hours and was spotted by me at 4:00am server time exactly. (I had checked around midnight and he wasn't here)

Some side Notes:

Why am I doing this? After my 41.5 hours of straight camping, dishearting kill the first night by opposite faction hunter, near tear jerking tame the next morning (I know sounds nerdy huh - I've been through the fire though!), and many talks with hunters from both factions who have been camping on and off for week, this sort of became an interest to me on how rare spawns work and my willingness to help OTHER hunters including the ones on my realm from both factions is very high right now.

My hunter is now level 76 and I get comments and whispers all day every day asking me about my pet. I personally think he is better than the other spirit beasts although they are pretty awesome! I actually have a bond with this pet as it took me alot of hours of work with little hours of sleep!

Have a great day all and I hope you tame him. If you are the hunter who is not taming him or missed out on him do me a favor: Don't kill him or stop the other hunter from taming. Nothing is so hurtful in the world to have something right in your grasp only to have it ripped out and destroyed while being powerless!

Seems like to me with all of these rolling restarts that have been happening lately atleast on Lothar. it have messed up with the spawn timing. He haven't been spottted for days on Lothar. Usually it is always the same hunters camping him including myself on the alliance side and through communication neither of us have seen him .Starting to think maybe this is one cruel joke blizz is running =/. If you are on Lothar, Horde or Alliance please respond wether you've seen or tamed Arcturis. been atleast three days without any sightings

Just tamed this sweet bear, 17.32. Flew there, saw him next to the river.
Put up freeze trap, started taming. Then I saw a 74 warrior running towards the
bear while I tamed it. Then he charged it and started killing it, I said some
not so nice words to the dude but he didnt care and continued.
Arcturis eventually killed the warrior and I could tame him safely =)

I tamed this magnificent creature at about 6:45-7:00 AM Eastern time on the Arygos realm. I do want to mention that I had a lot of trouble with Allies looking for it, but later into the night everyone died off. A lone hunter came around six telling me that his spawn timer was at an hour and forty eight minutes, and he stayed there with me and kept me company (hence the fact that i had been there for six hours straight already). He finally popped up when i wasn't paying attention. It was a beautiful tame. He pounces to you. Hahaha. Anyways, I got him finally, and the spawn point at 31.55 is confirmed. (: Good luck hunters! I camped for seven hours.

An unfortunate druid, perhaps? Arcturis uses the same model as the old night elf bear form model. He also has the ability to Prowl just like cat form, and Spirit Strike uses the same model as Moonfire, as well as a similar effect.

This pet was recently tamed by a Tauren hunter on Kel Thuzad at 3:44 am Sunday the 10th of January then again by an Orc hunter at 10:25 pm on that same evening. Reasoning with other players can work but wont usually so just look out for number 1 but dont kill the beast if you arent taming it and someone else is as it will just cause for more competition in the future. Instead if they are opposing faction and your on a pvp realm kill the player =D GL and happy hunting grats to those who have aquired this beautiful beast already.

Tamed again on Wednesday 6:15 am realm time on Kel' Thuzad though unfortunately I was distracted and unable to tame it myself hope to get lucky later today

Tamed him today.
My suggestion:

-Install _NPCscan and set it up
-play wow in a window
-log on at a unusual time (like thursdays 4:00 am^^)
-put your hunter there
-do whatever you like on the internet
-When found _NPCscan will inform you
-proceed for several days

However ... I way lucky and tamed him at the very first attempt. I logged in, traveled there and 5min later he respawned.

Very likely at 48 hour spawn timer.

He spawns Neutral, not Hostile.
Spawn point is exactly 31.2:55.7

Hellscream server ~ Usual spot 31,55 coor. by ambERpine

I have been camping for over 48 hours for Arcturis. My first 24 hours several hunters came and went checking in to see if there was a spawn. No one stayed around long. I stayed up till the server restart, then I went to bed. I was up and logged in right when the server came up the next day 01-12-2010 . Not long after logging on that a level 74 hunter showed up, and stayed all day long with me camping. That evening I had to log for about a half hour to go pick my children up from school. So of course that's when the damn bear decided to spawn. The other hunter was still there, and successfully tamed him 6:55pm server. And of course when I logged back on, I got the news that I had missed it. DAMN! I had been reading on the forums that he can spawn any where from 6 hours - 24 hours from being tamed. So I did other things, and started my camping again at 1am server today. I stayed up till 530 am server, still no spawn. I set my alarm, and checked every hour till 8:30am. From then on I just stayed on, I didn't move from that spot all day today. I told myself that if the bear didn't spawn by the 24 hour mark that I was going to find something else to do. Camping is maddening! Almost exactly 23 hours after last tame (at 4:43pm server), my npc scan went off, scared the @#$% out of me, luckily no other hunters around to worry about, I abandoned my throw away pet, froze Arcturis, and tamed him without a hitch.

Remember to empty your cache for you NPC scanner otherwise it might not go off. The cache is found, Program Files>WoW>Cache>WDB>enUS.......grab the file that says "creaturecashe.wdb" and delete it. This will make NPC scan act like it's never seen the animal before. Where as if you don't then if your NPC scan has already seen Arcturis in Dalaran as a pet, it will cache that creature, logging it as a pet and might not go off. I did not do this when I was camping "Gondria" and my NPC scanner DID NOT go off with the cat, but it DID with Arcturis. (keep in mind that if a hunter runs up to you with his arcturis pet out while you're camping, tell him to leave or put it away, then go back and reset your cache again. Just to be sure) Maybe I was being too paranoid but after wasting so many hours of my life staring at the hill side in Grizzly Hills I wasn't about to let one little thing cost me the bear.

Wow, what a tough tame! Not the actual tame (although he took me to 6% at lvl 77), but finding him in general.

I camped him more or less for 3 days. He popped at 2:34am CST last night. I had layed back and partially fallen asleep when my darn npcscan alert went...man, that default one is creepy! Scared the bejeebers out of me. I get excited and swoop down and doh!...80 Nelf was already taming...

So I'm sitting here watching the Dark Knight tonight and "creepy alert" time! No one is around...I overreact and drop the wrong trap (wanted to freeze him, but just slowed him down). He is kicking my butt and luckily I finish the tame right before.

If you want this pet, you really should download NPCscan, you can find it on curse.com or a direct link somewhere on this page.

It detected the pet 100 yards away. I initially was shocked because the pet was not in sight, but i went to: 31,55 - The general location and found him/tamed him.

Ironically, I gave up on looking for Skoll/Gondria/Arcturis as I spent quite alot of time, I went to Grizzly Hills for one last check and he was there.

I was watching the pet for around a week for about 20 minutes a day at different time intervals.

Arcturis has one spawn point only. He is the only spirit beast that has one spawn point, having NPC Scan/Sound in background means you can hover over the spawn point and get on with other various things.

Spawned at the location shown near the lodge. Seen him at 7:25PM (Let another hunter have the tame), seen the next morning at 6:05AM, so not even 12 hours later. Did get the second spawn, and am glad this hunt is over...

FYI - I did have a trash pet out killing Tallhorn Stags that would pop in the spawn location. Thought I would pass this along, because several hunters told me he will not spawn if you have a pet out, but in fact he does still spawn.

Got this beauty tamed on Al'akir around 4pm at his spawn point outside Amberpine Lodge.

Camped him for two days with the addon SilverDragon to tell me when he spawned if I wasn't looking. I flew off a few times to Grizzlemaw and Ursoc's Den where people have said he might spawn (this is not known though) but stopped doing that and went to camp the hill close to Amberpine.

I was lucky since no other hunters was camping him those days so I didn't need to compete for him.

The Spawn is on the slope near the river close to the cliff of Amberlodge. The 'close to the letters ER of Amberlodge' is accurate. Took me 4 hours of straight waiting, but persistance is the key people.

Actually, on Uldum server, if anyone has Arcturis tamed as a pet, it'll pop up on NPC-Scan as a tamable mob instead of a false alarm.. dunno if it's like that for anyone else. It happened around 6pm server time (at the Amberpine local) and myself and another hunter were hunting for him like mad, thinking he had spawned but he was just a pet

I tamed Arcturis this morning 1/18/10 at roughly 10:30 am on Lightning's Blade. I started camping him at about 9:30-10 pm the following night. So his spawn time was at least 13 hours. I am gonna go back tonight and 10:30 pm and see if he is there.

The cool thing about waiting for 13 hours was that I continully (SP?) killed the grizzly bears in the river. I gained a half level of XP, 220 pieces of Borean Leather, 6 pieces of Arctic fur, and over 100g in junk.

I hope the other spirit beasts go a litle easier lol.

Checked the other coord shown on the map here but nothing, camped from about 3pm constant till tame, got lucky break in between other hunters logging. So I get home at noon from working a midnight to noon shift. I wake from my nap because I have another midnight to noon shift to work that night. My wife's like "I saw someone taming that bear just before you got up...." and ofcourse I say "Bah. I might not ever get it".
As I decide to not log onto the DK that I am leveling on different server, I log onto my hunter on Staghelm which I have parked in Grizzly Hills at the spawn point. It was just dumb luck that as soon as I hit my target macro, he was standing right there.
I have the 4 spirit beasts now and I will be a little angry if Blizz puts out more than one more without giving us hunters about 5 more pet slots. WOOT!

Just tamed Arcturis on the hill down from Amberpine Lodge at 12:49 pm server time - was just checking as I have been doing for awhile now. Patience is the key and you will get him. I have not seen him spawn anywhere else. According to the last spawn it was 15 hours. It has only taken me over 2 months to get him.

ok so today i log and in like the first minute i go down to where articus spawns and i see this orc start to same him. so i shoot him once and pull arggo abandon my core hound and start to tame him. the orc starts shooting him trying to kill him and finally after waiting for almost a week on and off ive got him :)

woke up at around 6 am just another morning farming for that sweet teddy, but got bored of staring at the screen for a while, so I logged on a 2nd account, managed to sneak a lvl 70 char into grizzly hills, and parked it there with NPCscan on while I played on my lvl 10 paladin.. suddenly in the middle of killing a bunch of lvl 9 mobs NPC scan goes off and I heartattack panic and just attack it on the lvl 70 that instantly dies ^^ then I managed to quickly log on my hunter (lvl 74 btw), freeze trap and tame :) 8:28 AM server time on Kul Tiras, I was the only one in the zone on horde side, no other hunters :)

This pet does NOT spawn at Ursoc Den.
It spawns at Amberpine Lodge.
You can also have a pet out for it to spawn.

I just tamed Arcturis on Durotan server. The time was 1-27-2010 at 3:55 am

I camped the area near the lodge for last 3 days. Just missing him by 10 minutes twice for talking a break.

I really wanted this pet so it was worth the wait. No one else was camping him this early in the morning so I got him with 1 freezing trap.

Tamed him today at 7:51 pm realm time on US realm Nathrezim. Waited a little under two hours, I was standing around the 'ber' part of Amberpine Lodge, as previously stated. I was reading a book, and I was about to log off, then he spawned on top of me and my npcscan goes off!

well i'm camping for days now on that spot and no singh of respawn o.O :/ so i don't think he has a 12h respawn time. same for Loque...no singh of him/her. and no singh of other two rare elites King Krush and bird Aotona in Sholazar Basin...or i'm just unlucky or they have a RANDOM raspawn time...but i was flying for days in SB and my npc scan didn't turn off at all, not for loque and not for other 2.... don't know now:/

Thnderstomp lvl 75 Hunter Bleeding hollow.
Started sitting on the confirmed spawn point on the hill behind Amberpine lodge thursday Jan. 28, 2010 3pm. server time, had various hunters join me throughout the day. I decided around 12:50 AM of the next morning to log off. Get on next morning around 7:30 AM and sit there the entire day around 8:30 Jan. 29th was talking to the other hunter that was on the previous night camping with me said that she ended up getting the bear 10 minutes after I had logged of that night so around 12:53 AM. So we just kept talking about the bear then right around 8:53 20hrs from his last tame he popped on my screen right in front of me my heart started racing. I layed down my trap and shot him with an arcane shot bam he jumped towards my trap but one of them darn patrolling stags walked right into it and got caught, i proceeded to get mauled on and died by the bear so I ran back quiick set another trap away from the stag and pulled again, landed perfect started the tame and then I had my beutiful bear. 75 Hunter, Felwrathe of Proudmoore US, tamed at 9pm server time.
Just saw him sitting there while on an alt, so I switched to my Hunty, flew over and tamed him. No camping, wasn't looking for him... honestly I didn't even know where to find him (saw someone else with him on my server about a week ago)

Note on taming: He hits pretty hard and when he charges he does a kind of dive toward you, so using the "Freezing Trap between you and the mob" trick doesn't really work, he can just jump over it. Instead drop it at your feet and hit tame, he'll be frozen long enough to tame safely.s

Been camped at the amberpine spawn spot nearly 24 hours now ! Still no sign although I have been afk for a couple of short breaks.
Im either sad or mad as Im now starting to name the squirrils and skunks !

hey, i was searching for this bear on turalyon eu, i was up from 01:00 am til around 4:30 am realm time, i decided to have a quick nap. I came back on around 7:00 am and the bear was not there so i waited til around 9:00 am, still no bear. I then came on at around 5:00 pm and no bear, I had mail so i went to the nearest mail box to check what it was, i was returning to the bit of land near the river close to amberpine mill when suddenly NPCScan went off, i rushed over to him and did the trap and tame method. I think he was tamed/killed when i had my nap. This was my third spirit beast. I went to the storm peaks to check for Skoll, when i approached the snowfall pains spawn point, my npcscan went off. I did the trap and tame method again to complete my set of spirit beasts. good luck to all searching for him

The Story:
It all started Jan 29, at 9pm. I just started on World of Warcraft, after a little break to fix some stuff in real life.
I looked on Wowhead, to see the new patch notes, and then I saw on YouTube right after that, "New spirit beast 3.3". And I was like, A new spirit beast? I checked out the video, and saw that the new beast was called Arcturis. I really loved the look of him, and lucky enough.. My hunter was level 74 at the time! Couldn't be more perfect.
I looked Arcturis up on wowhead, looking for tips for finding this wonderful beast.
After a long night, about 7 hours of camping at Amberpine Lodge, I gave up for the day. It was 3:47am, and I was tired.

Jan 30, 11.30pm
I started out by logging on World of Warcraft, turning up for my speakers and waited. 2 other hunters were already here, and if Arcturis will spawn, I wont get it. First off all, I'm level 74, they were 80 and Alliance (I'm horde). Hours after hours, Arcturis didn't spawn.

November 1, 9pm
I decided to log on World of Warcraft to see, if my spirit beast was spawned. It wasn't. (Sad face).
I stayed for a few hours, _NPCscan did its job. I were searching on the Internet for more hints about Arcturis, I was getting really tired.

At 5:36am, my alarm went off. It gave me a shock, and I overreacted to finally see him. I landed on the ground, about to tame him. Everything was going smooth.
* OUT OF NOWHERE * A Night Elf Warrior, level 80, comes out of Shadowmeld. He has been sitting, waiting for Arcturis to spawn! He killed me, thereafter the spirit beast. I was angry, how could a person do this? for... Fun?

November 2, 11pm
I believed in, that I could get Arcturis before server shutdown at 3am. I was sitting on my computer, while watching tv.
My friend came online, and we decided to do a Zul'gurub mount run. We didn't get any mounts. I teleported to Dalaran, it was 1:20am.
I told my friend about Arcturis, and I told him that he got killed at 5:36am. He said to me, "You should go look for him. I bet he will spawn before update. Trust me." I followed his advise.
I came to my camping spot, and was ready for everything.
1:45am
The alarm goes off. Arcturis spawned. I quickly looked around me, no one was there! He was mine.
I began to tame him, my frost trap missed. I needed to feign death. I started over again, and yet, another horde came to the spot! I was thinking, " He will kill him because I reached him first..", but no. He simply just cheered at me, and smiled.
Arcturis tamed. I couldn't thank the hunter enough, for not killing it.

Arcturis is now my pet, and I'm proud of having this really nice looking beast on my side. :)

Hmm, my only advise on taming Arcturis is to get to his only spawn point and play WoW in windowed mode and watch some videos to pass the time while keeping WoW in a smaller window. Also get the addon _NPCscanner to alert you of his presence.

I tamed this beauty, today at 6:30 AM (Ragnaros-EU), at the place what was described by so many ppl : halfway trough the river and Amberpine Lodge, above the "ER".
I used this macro (I cant remember whos posted it..):

Ive decided to tame him yesterday, partly because he is simply wonderful, partly because I dont have to fly around for about 2 weeks day and night. My tactic was, that i didnt act like a zombie in front of a computer all day and night, rather Ive just set my phone to wake me up at 4:00 am, and 6:00 am. My computer is really close to my bed (immediately next to it), and it was turned on already because of torrent. So I just had to run WoW, log in, using the macro, and thats all.

So I woke up at 4:00 am today, and he wasnt there, I slept back.
I woke up again at 6:00 am, and TADA! There he is!

Ive choosen this times (4 and 6 am), because in that time playing the least ppl, and you have the most biggest chance to find and tame him without anyone interrupting you. By the way, I think the most arcticus kills happens between 15pm and 20pm (rush hour), and he has -minimum- 12 hour respawn time, so at the dawn/morning you have the best opportunitys to tame him. If you ask me in daytime (especially in rush hour), you have very bad chances...

So good luck to everybody, and yea i know, my english skills would be better :)

Here is a tip for mac users trying to find this one create a applescript to keep you from logging out this totally makes camping a passive thing and all you need do is listen for npc scan to go off here is what i use copy and paste into script editor it will make character jump every 3 min for 12 hours

Tamed this beauty at 12:35 PM on Gnomeregan (US) right at the coords listed above. The rare pet Gods finally paid back some karma today as I had only camped this target for about twenty minutes and had to log off. When I logged back in NPCScan sounded, he was no more than 30 yards away and bam a freezing trap, an auto shot and a couple of seconds of hoping no one else was around to attack it and kill him just for spite and he is mine. After camping for hours and hours for Rak'shiri and Nuramoc this was a nice change!

With that grin, I can't help but think "Cheshire Bear." Finally got this tame today, took a screenshot after using my Iron Boot Flask. That is just too perfect :)

Edit: For those that use the Pet Emote addon, this bear shares the same scripting as the spirit cats. There's something about having a Cheshire Cat looking bear that meows and purrs that I just find amazing 8P

i wanted to add this. the guy who said that this mob and all the others spawn at 5 mins before the hour and or 5 mins after the hour is right. i got mine at 6:55. logged in ever hour 5 mins before and waited 10 mins to see if it would spawn. got it in 2 days of logging in and out of my hunter just during the day. so it was like 6 hours total.

Well i have finally TAMED the beast. It took me about 12 h camping. Its totally worth it, it has decent dps (so far devilsaur onl beats him by 50 or even less), and the most coolest thing is that every one comment it (good comments ofc) , like when im in sw i dont have enough time to answer all wisps :)
Anyway i think it has a 24h min spawn time and good hunting to all future owners.
p.s. i named im arcturis beucase the name is just as cool as the pet

Time spent camping: 4 hours the previous day, 11 1/2 the day caught.

Location was exactly where everyone said it'd be. Was giving up in an hour from when it appeared. I followed another person on the name. "Karma" was appropriate for a name.

Good luck to everyone else who's wanting it. It was worth it. Two things to note was there were several "casual campers" throughout the day. I was the only one who stayed longer than 10 minutes though. Guess that proves it's worth the wait.

The other thing is people showing off theirs. Once they "show it" to you, _Npcscan did NOT alert me again. I had to clear the cache and it was alert once more. Yes the "alert even if you've cached it" button was checked, but since it's not part of the achievement list, it won't alert.

I have been camping Arcturis for a while now with no luck but found something cool. Near the river he spawns next to there is a tree with some sort of face on it. The face is on the trunk about halfway up the tree. It looks like some sort of voodoo mask or some such, I wonder if this could have anything to do with a Spirit Bear.

Sort of cool to ponder as I wait on him to spawn so I can tame him :)

Just tamed at 4:41 PST on 02/27/2010. He was on the slope of the hill going down into the river towards the river with the grizzly bears. After 48 hours off and on of trying to find, left to eat dinner, came back signed and boom, there he was. Very sweet. Good luck to all still trying to find this bear. Now to find loque.

ok so this is my first comment ever, ok this is for ghostlands server, tamed at 4:15 am server, 2/28/10. this mob seems to always spawn at the top, or tail end of the hour, an for my server, its most likely to spawn(i think, seams i was right) at 2:15(am, or pm), or 4:15(am, or pm) and has 12 hour min, 24 hour max re-spawn timer. this is mostly guess work, seeing as i lost the tame 3 times this week around those times, and got him at last at 4:15am. haha im exited i was going to bed after a few daily's, but first wanted to see if my idea was right so i took a look and bammmm haha, i will be trying this out till next week i will post if my spawn pattern pans out, or if it turns out im just a lucky hunter XD

still dont know if im right yet, i need to see him again

Today a guild mate told me that he killed this guy while a level 76 horde hunter was taming it... Even for me (an alliance hunter) thought it was quite rude. Everyone had laughs with my guild mate (I was the only hunter online to feel the hunter's pain ): ) and keep talking about that poor hunter then I commented what a bastard he was... later then they kicked me, and the guild master said they don't want people who are against a guild mate for if a guild mate did nothing wrong (!).

As a hunter I respect every other hunters that are looking for rare exotic pets (see what most of these posts say, they are helping other hunters to get it. :D), horde or alliance, specially this one. And if I were looking to tame it and a hunter was already taming it, I would not kill it because :

It will be rude

There will be more competition for it

You can be reported for it I think
- The guy might have been working for it harder than you did - will be rude
Surely this will get downrated because of the guilt that people who did what my once guild mate did and most of it had nothing to do with this guy, just mostly hunters and pets...

camping for a few days, and i tab in to see he finally spawned below me. to my horror a dk was waiting for him and immediately killed him. Look folks: drops arent worth it, you dont get an achievement for killing him, don't be an ass and kill it. There's far too many of us hunters trying to get our pet. good luck to those after this magnificent pet.

Finally......tamed on Blade's Edge at 10:30 am server time at 30, 56. Was headed to the Inn when, on a whim, just decided to check his spawn point once more. When he strolled out from under the tree, I couldn't believe it.

There I was in the wrong spec with a keeper-pet! I hurriedly changed my spec back to BM while praying that no one ninja'd him, and stabled my pet. Hit a mana pot and proceeded to tame. Well worth the wait.

So, I normally don't make these types of assumptions, but I believe it is quite possible that Blizzard may have gotten the idea for Arcturis in part from a rare genetic strain of black bears that are called white phase bears. This article http://www.americanbear.org/halo.htm has a little information on them, and it refers to them as such:

These beautiful white animals are commonly known as spirit bears or ghost bears.

Just a shot in the dark, but I just read about these cool, rare animals a few minutes ago and it seemed like it might be more than just a coincidence. Either way, the bears themselves make for an interesting read :)

I had been spirit beast hunting for about 5 days with the ocassional break, Today I decided to camp my hunter over Arcturis' spawn before going to help a guild mate get a Barmans shanker. There was a 74 BE hunter sitting on the spawn when i loged off. 4 Bar runs later the guildy has the shanker, I log back onto my hunter and _NPCScan goes nuts. I was still on Skype talkin with the guild and I start sayin oh $%^&, etc. he asks whats wrong, you went all quiet. I am barely listening to him as I refocus myself, drop outta the sky, abandon Toxocara (my worm)set my trap, tap the bear and proceed to tame. he got a hit off on my before getting frozen but the tame went off flawlessly. OldBen (was thinkin Grizzly Adams meets star wars at the time, don't ask) Was tamed and trained at aprox 5am server time, Dalaran.

As soon as i hit lvl 74 on my hunter yesterday I went to his spawn spot and I found him and tamed him after about 10 mins of camping :) I put my freezing trap too close to me and it didn't freeze him and he sarted pwning me so i started running around a bit and managed to get another freezing trap down and tame him. Then today I flew in to Amberpine lodge to hand a quest and he was there again! I asked in local chat if there was any BM hunters around that wanted him but there wasn't so I killed him. I also hit 75 today so went to Zul'drak and as i was flying around my NPCscan went off and Gondria was there! But I couldn't tame her cos she was too high :(

The difference between the first time I saw him and the scond time I saw him was about 20 hours.

Just got this big guy at the same stated spot ( Amberpine Lodge, the hillside that slopes towards the grizzlies) at 814pm server time. I had been waiting all morning and gave up and went questing. Dragonblight was lagging real badly so I went to quest in Grizzly hills and as I was getting ready to head back to town NPCScan went off and I saw him. He almost killed me on the first attempt cause I was in such a rush to get him I was afraid someone else might come through and kill either me or him while taming :D. But I got him 2nd try.

you're specced into Beast Master before camping.

You'd hate to have to respec on the spot and risk losing the beast.

I'm new to the hunter class, but as soon as I saw this guy in Dal, I knew he was a must have, for me.

Today was my lucky day, I haven't spent a great deal of time camping for him, occasionally sitting over his spawn point waiting for dungeon finder.
Today was no different, I was litterally en route to my usual camping spot, when dungeon finder popped up telling me my group was ready.
I had just clicked enter dungeon when just over the window I saw my ghostly bear.

I teleported out and flew right to him, being Horde and fearing at any moment someone would either kill him, or stop me taming him.

He was at: 30, 55
Spotted and tamed at 04:15am PST (Server maintainence scheduled for 5am)

Now for the real piece of luck, directly after I ran Old kindom (fast run, 10 mins)
I decided to camp out the hills north of Brunnhilda village hoping that on reboot I might get Skoll, to my delight Skoll was there too, sat on the metal disk.

I know this information is not relavant to Arcturis. but it may be a pattern not spotted.
It just struck me as odd to be able to tame two rare elite spawns just prior to downtime.
I will endeavour to confirm if I am either just very lucky or wether some pattern exists.

I had to post this up just to show my ordeal in trying to tame this bad boy. I camped out at the spawning spot for a total of 36 hours game time. Not straight through time mind you, but overall time; usually worked out to about 5-6 hours at a time just sitting there waiting for NPC_scan to go off. Usually in the evening and up until around midnight or 1am. I didn't run any dailies, no random dungeons, nothing during that time. I would periodically see another hunter come back for a few minutes and then leave but I stood firm saying to myself, I'm gonna get this guy no matter what. I had seen him when I was half way through 73 but of course I couldn't tame him yet.

Few things to make note of, some of which others have previously mentioned in this thread.

Play in windowed mode so you can surf the net, or do other stuff while waiting, to pass the time. I turned off the in game music and just left the ambient sounds up and turned up my volume loud so when npcscan did go off I would hear if even if i wasn't sitting at the computer..lol. Also I made sure my cache was cleared for the addon.

So finally around 830 server time last night, I had been camped out for about 3 hours or so and at the time I was sitting on the couch in the living room watching TV and kinda dozing off when out of the blue NPCscan went off! Scared the jeebus out of me! I jumped up, almost slipped and fell to run over to the comp, and sure enough there he was right beside me! I immediately backed up, dropped my freezing trap, and tagged him at max range. He jumped at me just like I had seen in the vids on youtube and got caught in my trap but he promptly busted through the trap within about 3 seconds and beat me to death! There I was after 36 hours, dead! Fortunately the graveyard is real close to the spawn point for him so I ran back hoping to God nobody else had tagged him yet and fortunately I was still the only one there. I took a minute to bandage up, ate another food buff to get myself some more health, made sure my correct aspect was still active, dropped another trap and tried it again. Same thing, he busted through my trap like it was nothing and promptly began to beat me senseless. Mind you Im 74 so Im taming him at level so he was hitting me like a freight train. I have good gear for my level but still, it was rough (gear score addon shows my at almost 2100). So after dying a 2nd time I run back, go through my same routine and began to tame again..and guess what..yep, he busted through a 3rd time so by now Im disheartened to the point of almost giving up thinking there's no way this is going to happen at 74. All this time, wasted! I decided though Im not giving up and thank goodness still nobody else was around but me. This time I bandage up, eat another food buff, and drop my Lifeblood for a heal over time (why I didn't think of this sooner I don't know), and began to tame him again. FINALLY, my freezing trap is holding and the seconds are ticking off for what seemed like an eternity. The longest 20 seconds game time I've ever had..LOL. Then with just 5 seconds left he busts through my trap and gets one good whack on me but the deed is done and he's mine!

After all this my hands were still shaking and I thought to myself, man Im such a nerd..LOL. I texted my wife who was at work and told her and she was like, yeah you're a nerd...LOL.

Ive never had a taming go that sideways before, I even have my freezing trap macro'd so that I stop all casting and attacks when I put it down, and plus I had unequipped my melee weapons. Maybe it was just my dumb luck that my traps weren't holding, who knows. So in the end was it worth, hell yeah because he's cool as hell but man that was a long time waiting for him. So yes it can be done at level but be prepared because he hits hard.

Ok here's my story! this friday I got to lvl 74 so I went to see if arc was there,he wasn't so I decided to camp. This was around 5pm . After camping all night, I got tired and went to bed. I woke up around non sayurday and a blood elf was there camping(I'm a night elf) I tried to reson with him but he said it was his. I camped with him all day and nothing. But Saturday night he brought some guildies to try and get me away. We agreed that whoever started taming first, gets him. Well around midnight server time bam he spawns right on top of me!I immediatly started taming, and I was almost done before the blood elf even noticed arc was there! Well he didn't stick to the agreement and killed him. I logged and went to bed. Next morning I go on and see a night elf camping there. He assured me he was there first and he needed a tanking pet. I let him know it's a dps pet and he said ok, I can have him. But he wanted to stay in order to beast lore him.( I was suspicious of that) well we waited and another nelf came by, positioned herself under a tree and logged. She would log on every 45 minutes to check. Around the fifth time this happened , she had just logged off when arc spawned. I started shaking like crazy, but the guy was true to his word and just beast kited it then said he's all mine. I started the tame without a trap but realized he was hitting me to hard so I feigned death and healed. Layer a trap. Froze. Tame. Done. I'm was a very happy hunter, who couldn't breath. :). Alright, tamed today, 6:52 am server time on US Blackwater Raiders.

I was passing through Grizzly Hills and decided to soar over Amber Pine Lodge to check on ol' Arcty (I had seen his corpse twice before, usually early in the morning), and there he was.

Despite the chaos and adrenaline surging through me, I cooly landed, laid a trap, and tamed. My hands were shaking

Once I was halfway though taming, I turned on CAPS and had a small conniption fit in g-chat. Arcturis tamed, named him Chillpaw.

Decided to go BM to get a Devilsaur just for fun. Well, while I was BM I went to go gather some herbs for low lvl inscription and I just happened upon him. I could not find Call Stable Pet fast enough to put my Devilsaur away lol.

Just tamed this beautiful creature 5 minutes ago after a total of 40 hours game time spent camping. Spawned at 5:36 am PST Terenas server or 6:36 am game time. This was about 30 hours after the last known tame (to my knowledge). His spawns do seem to be random and may not be on a set timer. I would recommend camping during the late evening/early morning as I had no competition for the tame while camping the spot during those hours. Good luck to those hunters still searching for him. He is well worth the wait.

Have to add some information.

Today i saw Arcturis getting tamed at about 12 o' clock noon.

Then, approx 8 hours later i see him appear by the spawn site. As i go down to tame him, he simply vanishes :(

Sad for me because about 20 mins earlier.. as i was about to tame Skoll... a rogue killed him for achivement.. i asked wich achivement, to wich he could not answer.. oh well.

Sad sad indeed... oh well, keep on looking :)

EDIT: Just got him, at around 20.50 PM on Chromaggus, i managed to tame him. Weird thing though.. when he vanished he was probably on some timer. Because this happend twice.
The second time i noticed that the NPCscan had detected him and went down.. and just as i was about to start taming him he vanished again. I noticed that it was about 30 mins ago that he had vanished the first time. So i decied to come back about 30 mins later and see if he would appear. Well lookie lookie... he did. This time i was prepared and ready so no problemo.. i got another Spirit Beast.

So it's safe to say that... if he hasnt been tamed or killed.. chances are that he will appear for a short period of time, vanish.. and come back 30 mins later. I would've been doubtfull of those 30 mins if i hadn't seen it myself. Maybe this has been confirmed though but i havent seen anything about that.

Well guys I got mine. 10 pm ST on the dot. March 22. US Detheroc. I can confirm the one spawn location. I did a lot of research initially to come up with his basic spawn timer. While on Petopia.com I found that he had an 8-12 hour timer, I do not think this is the case. I had seen a level 75 hunter in Conquest hold with the pet and asked him when he tamed it. He told me that he got his the night before at 11 ST. This means that exactly 23 hours after the last spawn he popped again. I am led to believe he is on a 22-24 hour spawn timer based on research and what I confirmed. I was in vent with a friend of mine, and only 4 minutes before the spawn my friend got his second legendary (main hand warglaive). After congratulating him I told him to come camp it for me while I smoked a cig. As I waited for him to arrive I was reading over more forum posts of people catching him when on my main monitor something caught my eye. Sure enough, there he was plain as day. Shaking, I arcane shot him threw down a trap and wam bam shazam, he now stands proud next to my hunter. I can also confirm he WILL LEAP AT YOU when you get in combat. THIS MEANS, you must NOT back up after laying your trap for he will jump right over it and kill you. I was level 74 at time of tame, and he is an elite who will kill you if you do not trap. I have been told he's not the best at lvl 80, since BM is kinda gimp right now and it's not a great pet for pvp. However, at the lower levels in BG's, I have been absolutely shocked at how powerful it is. It has soloed many players as I stood stunned or silenced. Not to mention, it looks great. If you plan on camping out for any one of the four beasts, this is the one to gun for in my opinion. It only has 1 spawn point, making it easy. My suggestion is figure out the last time it spawned on your server by asking around, having a friend be near in case you have to afk, and being there about 20-21 hours after the last time tamed/killed. This is pretty obvious, but your more than likely going to be waiting a while to tame this bad boy, so take up fishing if you haven't already. There is a nice lake to fish in right next to his spawn spot, so just flip your NPC scan on and make some money/food while you wait out the spawn timer... Just a friendly tip i'm still waiting for him to spawn myself.

Edit: also if your extra cautious like me first off i THINK that you manually have to add him to your NPC scan and you should also probably delete your cache before waiting. His NPC ID is 38453. Make a macro like this if you want to.

Ok so, i gave up on this bear 2 days ago... I was leveling in grizzly hills and was just stopping by amberpine for some water when my NPC scan went off. It was Arcturis, i couldn't believe it! I went about 5 yards away from him laid down my trap he pounced... BEHIND me lol and kicked my ass. After a very short corpse walk i redid it, soiled myself, did a little cooky dance and tested out my new pet who is AWESOME. It just kind of sucks that BM is so gibbed at 80 i wish i could use him then so bad, but im sure ill go survival for the duration of my random dungeon T9 journey. Hes still good for daily's and the last 5 levels til 80. But the main point of me editing this is don't give up on this guy. It might take you 5 minutes, or it might take you a week but its well worth it! I named him Finally :)

One last edit, this pet seems to have about a 1 second attack speed or less and if specced in all the dmg + crit talents crits for over 500 on claws, and under the effects of kill command and beasial wrath he hits for like 1.5k+ which is very insane for pvp and pve. I wish i could see the look on some horde clothies when my pet kills them by itself!

ok i just tamed this beauty like 2 mins ago, i was randomly passing by in hopes of it spawning miraculously and as soon as i got there it spawned! right by that ally camp in the river like npcscan said. my heart almost gave out on me, i respecced stabled pet and tamed away. this is my 2nd spirit beast, i tamed the kitty yesterday, my friend saw it spwn while picking herbs and saved it for me till i got there..lets see if i get lucky with a third beast and get skoll :)

After 7 days of daily 3 - 4 hours long waiting...

Got my arcturis today at 03:10 on my realm (Eu, Spanish realms, Los Errantes)

Arcturis itself is a pain in the ass for a horde to go and tame, since it right next to an aliance base.
Meaning, any random lvl 73-80 can just walk by and say like ''oh a rare elite, lets kill for epic loot''.

Anyways, im tired of having to look around, gonna go to bed, ill lvl him tomorow.

P.s, the bear uses pounce, you can tame him without traps but he does hit quite hard for his lvl.
my frost trap missed, still managed to tame him.

theres no need really to use any macro but i did incase.
ive read forums all over the web and all claim that this is the only spawn point the bear has.

Once tamed, he comes with, spirit strike (moonfire'ish spell), claw, prowl. growl. likes meat n fish.

Good luck to any hunter out there taming this fancy pet.

Arcturis spawned on jaedenar realm (EU) at exacly 19:45 Server time, it was in the usual spawn location, just west of amberpine lodge. I don't know a thing about hunters but a friend named Butmonkey asked me to post this, hope it helped :D

Finally tamed this beast!..pun intended. xD

Was waiting at the middle of the hill by Amberpine Lodge as indicated above yesterday from about 8pm till 5am with no spawn. Tired, grumpy, and slightly pessimistic, went to bed and logged back in at noon roughly. Still no spawn. Decided to just wait there and look at posts on Wowhead and such to help pass the time. Never knew waiting could be so damn tedious.

Started flying around where Grocklar and Seething Hate spawn, actually found Grocklar at 6:30pm stomping around and took him down with my warp stalker of death and destruction. Was also checking the "rumored" spawn point of Arcturis up by Grizzlemaw but he was never there. This continued till about 10pm...was getting tired of waiting...my hunter is only 75 at the moment and she could have been higher if not waiting for the damn bear.

Decided to do a random dungeon, finished it...was typing to my friend on yahoo when I hear this loud ass horn going off from npcscan. Heart pumping out of my chest, I switch over to WoW and FINALLY see Arcturis spawn at 11:30pm exactly and start walking up the hill. Set down the freezing trap near my feet since he can pounce, I used a concussive shot and spammed tame beast till he was in range.

...What? I can't tame him? I was still in MM mode from the dungeon earlier and this bear broke out of my ice trap and started beating my ass >.< Popped a feign death faster than physically possible, got up, switched specs, pointed my wolf I was using to the door, and redid the ice trap and concussive shot. Started taming him...longest 20 seconds of my life...and he was mine! :D

Took a total of 24 hours of on and off farming to get him...well worth the wait. Sure there was QQ'ing and *!@#$ing involved but that doesn't matter :D If you're still looking for him..just have patience and keep npcscan clear and your volume loud. Good luck!

Camped him all night, no luck. Went to take a shower before bed, after a refreshing shower wasn't tired, returned to game and soon as I stepped out of Amberpine Lodge, NPCScan went off, Arcturis found! I put down a frost trap, he pounced ON the trap and 20 seconds later, he's mine! :)

here is what I know.

2 days of camping. I started by camping Sunday night a little and just went to bed. Then Monday morning a guildy got the bear at about 6:30am server time and i camped that spot from 9:30am server time till 2:30 am server time tues morning and just went to bed b/c i knew server reset was not long after. I got back on right when the servers where still coming up wich was about 2pm and camped it all day and all night long until 12:30 server time for when it finally spawned on top of me and I got it.

So what is the spawn timer? I heard 10 hours, 12 hours 24 hours, and well it doesn't seem any of them times are right.

(oh and i want to thank the troll hunter on the elune server that started coming around for not killing him - was a troll hunter)

Highdee Ho everyone.
So after only 2 days camping I logged on after being out and i left my toon right at the spawn point for Arcturis and he was already there when i logged on @11 am server time on proudmoore server. Luckily for me there were no other hunters in the area and no one trying to kill him. I had Loque as my pet at the time and quickly put him away in the stables (thank god i was at 80 already) and started to tame. Now only 2 spirit beast to go. Good luck to all you hunters.

Just decided tonight i'd make my offspec BM and go get this spirit beast. It was about 5am server time. (2am my time)

Pretty much walked up to the area right above logging camp...and didn't even need the macro. He was just sitting there in broad daylight waiting for me.

No camping required. Got him on first trip out on May 2nd, 2:45am pacific, forgotten coast server.

I can just confirm that he is just about a 24h cyklus, found him monday at 8.30 game time, and didnt have the spec to get him so i killed him and then i waited again... and just got him now at 2.45 game time.... and he is lvl 75... and looks awesome... :-)

I hit 75 and immediately went looking for Arcturis. I didn't see him after a pass so I went to bed but when I awoke the next morning there he was walking near the waterfall. Captured him then finished leveling to 76 and figured id camp out Loque'nahak and wouldnt start leveling again til I caught him. When I went to the zone there were about 8 other lv80 hunters there and they were there the whole day while I casually searched the spawn points every hour or so but while I was doing it I would always see another hunter flying the spawns too trying to find him. I leveled my lock a couple levels and went back to check and there he was. Don't be discouraged if other hunters are in the zone looking for the spirit beast you want, at first I was, but persistence and patience is all you need. I never thought I would catch a spirit beast on the first day, let alone 2 of them in 24 hours and on a heavily populated server to boot. Good luck and stay vigilant.

My wife and I play together and when my hunter turned 74, the first thing I did was to head straight to Arcturis and start camping. I waited for days. Sat on the hill, turned on NPCScan, watched tv, and waited. Finally, after staying awake one night until 3:30am, the drums go off, my heartbeat spikes, and FINALLY... Arcturis is mine. Naturally I had to brag about him all day to my wife.
Of course... the next day, we were just traveling through Grizzly Hills on the way to a quest, there he is again... wife tamed him right then and there. Gah... figures.

Tamed him today, about 6:30 am on Dark Iron. When I hit 77 I decided to take a break from leveling and put in about 70 hours over the past week camping him -- he's easily the best looking spirit beast and I wanted a fun pet to do dungeons with on my way to 80.

Took a break from camping him to work on my engineering some. I was on my way back from farming up the Jeeves schematic in Storm Peaks when NPCscan went off at me and there was Skoll right in front of me. I was a bit annoyed about being too low to tame him, but I spent about 5 minutes flying over him asking if any hunters needed him. Found someone to come tame him, and then back to Grizzly Hills for me.

Well, Arcturis was waiting for me when I got back. I believe in karma now. Do something nice for your fellow hunters and something nice might happen to you :D

Just tamed him today finally at 6:06 PM on Blackhand. He spawned in his usual location, and immediately started walking up the hill after spawning.

Just so some of you dont get confused like I did... what would happen to me before is that I would switch to secondary spec, and upon switching your pet despawns. Well, every time I tried to tame something, it worked, despite me not having put my pet away in the stable. I was able to tame one of the nearby bears with no problem, and the pet I originally had out before switching specs was safe in my stables.

When I tried taming Arcturis, however, it said I had too many pets out already. Kind of odd considering all the other times I tamed things, but luckily nobody else was around, so I had time to call out another pet to abandon in order to get him.

No exact time for how long it was since the last spawn--I only checked for him when I was already passing through Grizzly Hills, or when I had nothing better to do. This time I decided to just sit and wait for him to spawn, and from the time I started waiting it was only about 3 hours until he did finally show up.

Good luck to anyone else trying to get him. The ESN Rare mob addon definitely helps a lot.

Some things to do while waiting for the spawn: You could fish, farm chilled meats, leather, or you could just do what I did and just raise your unarmed for the achievement. May as well get it before they ditch weapon skills in Cataclysm.

The beast is finally in the stable!

After a long arduous camp at the usual location, (killed and skinned ALOT of grizzlies...actually came away with 10 Arctic Furs), he finally popped for me on Saturday at 3:04 pm on Kilrogg.

I had been camping about a week, and one day I was sitting for 6 hours straight. This was last Tuesday. Well, I log off to head out and come back on that evening to find out a guildie got him around 2pm! I had just missed him! But at least I had a general time frame now.

Anyways, can't say enough about npcscan or a similar addon. Saves alot of sanity being able to switch out and do other work or what not and just listen for the alarm. But I forgot I had the volume up and when he spawned I nearly jumped out of my chair from the noise.

The adrenaline was pumping, and after reading some of the nightmare stories about taming, I was nervous since I was min level at 74. I dropped a trap at my feet and hit him with the concussion and started the tame. He was slowed but the leapt at me but the trap got him! About 15 on the longest seconds later, he was mine.

Totally worth it, and I get lots of whispers about him and how cool he looks. Good luck all!

Logged onto Thrall about 20 minutes ago and when flying through the zone, I was pressing my macro for searching for him. Nothing popped up at all. So as I was getting ready to leave, I noticed him across the water walking up the hill. Quickly had to drop down, switch specs, pull out a pet to abandon and then tame him while hoping nobody would come by.

Definitely love his looks. Had to dump my ghost Jormunger, since my other pets were Gondria, Skoll, the Ghost Hydra and the Drak'tharon raptor for running Survival spec. But I figured that would be an easier one to get at a later date then the other ones I had.

I was leveling my (Horde) Pally in Grizzly Hills and he spawned at midnight as I was collecting bear pelts.
I proceeded to take him down when a Draenai Hunter showed up.
I bubbled and ran so he could tame.
After spending nearly a year trying to get Loq (finally succeeded on Xmas morning '09!)
I felt it wouldn't be right to kill him if someone was nearby trying to tame him.

I tamed her about a month ago (sorry for the late post, only recently made an account although I've used the site for a year) on Windrunner-US.
I camped her spawn for two days straight (Mountain Dew, TV show episodes on low volume, and lots of snack foods) with NPC tracker or whatever that one add-on is, sitting on and ready (with my speakers on some questionably loud setting).
Sadly it took the full 2 days for her to spawn (no other hunters were noticed each time I popped back to my keyboard to de-/afk myself) but no competition, kill stealers, or the like were around when I grabbed her.

It's nice to get a 'Nice bear' comment everywhere now, instead of having one of those nice looking puppies from hellfire ramparts that no one seems to care about :P That and she oddly seems to have more health and armor (confirmed, she does have higher stats) than my Ghostly Worm (both pets are level 80) with the Worm being tank specced (armor, barding, stam, and the like) while Freya (Arcturis) is specced for pure damage. I like using her to tank quests that suggest parties, and do massive DPS (for a BM Hunter) in raids and dungeons.

As for tips:
She spawns right on the R in AmbeRpine Lodge, she has no patrol route - although if you're a l33t hunter, you won't give her time to patrol around ;) - and she has a 1-2 day respawn timer (so it's helpful to know when the last person tamed/killed her, and if they looted (as looting causes a quicker respawn time))

In the hunter pet calc. it says that Spirit Beasts are Ferocious. But this one is a bear, and bears are Tenacious. So, my question is, which one is it?

For the love of god, make sure you put an ice trap down before you start taming him. I just logged in an my NPC scan alerted me, so i hopped off my mount and stupid me started taming him without an ice trap and realized he was going to kill me.

So i cancelled the tame, set an ice trap down, and managed to get him with a sliver of health. I nearly fell out of my chair fumbling to put an ice trap down, but yea, SUCCESS! but remember that ice trap...

FYI, i found him in the same place as everyone else, near amberpine lodge, on the slope right next to the waterfall and the lodge at about 1:24am west coast server time.

Here's what I did to tame this bad boy. I wanted to tame it myself before I posted my strat so no one would be doing the same thing on my server :). It's also a bit drastic, but as soon as i thought it up, I had the pet in 2 days.

Here's what's needed:

1.) Laptop with _NPCscan. (make sure you clear your cache)
2.) Ability to sleep lightly.

In a nutshell, all I did was camp this spot (right above the BER in Amberpine) with my laptop sitting next to my pillow as I slept, NPCscan worked as an alarm...woke me up and I tamed him. Also, if you're worried about getting DC'd from being afk, have no worries! Blizzard has a built in solution for waking you up if you get DC'd. It's called Sindragosa's roar right in your face. If that doesn't wake up up when the speakers are right next to you, I don't know what to tell you. He spawned for me at 2:42am server time (4:42 my time). I was groggy, and didn't place my trap properly. Guess what happened? He killed me (@lvl76). LUCKILY no one else was around so I was able to run back and tame him correctly. My heart was beating as if I had just ran 2 miles, was quite a rush!

2 days of camping, spawned at 30,56. Its one of the easiest spirit beast to get imo, cuz it has 1 spawn point so you dont actualy have to run around looking for it :)

Confirmed: Just tamed hit exactly at the 21 hour spawn time.
Only location ever to be seen is the amberpine. Just like the guy who said he got his at 21 hours i tamed one for my guildy.Went back and camped him,Silverdragon addon told me it had been 21 hours since last spawn and bam outta nowhere he spawned tamed his maybe 5 mins ago.So its safe to say he is 21 hour spawn time if no one tamed him or killed him before you got there.

Found him on that same spot everyone is talking about. I stalked him from 7:30pm server time until 11:30pm server time the next day. I started camping him at 7:30pm, I logged out at 1:30am, in the four hours I logged off to get some sleep, it was tamed at 2:30 server time. After I resumed my stalking at 5:30am and stayed there until 11:30pm when my NPC Scan went off and it spawned right under me. It spawned exactly 21 hours after it was last tamed.

He'll jump at you the first time so make sure you have your freezing trap out so he'll land on it or so you can lead him to it once he's beating on you. He broke out of it the first time and almost killed me. I had to feign death, use a heavy frostweave bandage (and got the Ultimate Triage achievement btw) and a mana pot. I layed down the trap again, and used Conc. Shot on it and started taming it. It slowed down enough and got frozen and I was able to get it. I tamed him at level 75.

Well i read most of the notes on here and I was sure it spawned late night. It's a cool pet but I have been farming it for the last 5 nights <12am to8am > <server> and I just watched another hunter get this nice pet. I hope he is happy. It was at 2:30am server time <mok' nathal> but I hope I get it tomorrow night hopefully i will.

I logged onto my hunter for first time in a week and had left him right by the bears spawn point when i turned around he was right there staring at me i then proceeded to tame him but then 2 seconds from taming i had a server restart initialize causing me to not get my final spirit animal all i have to say is why Blizz why!

FYI: he was at the spawn point marked on the map at top of first screen

i forgot who it was but the person who said he appeared around top of hour was right cause it was 3:00 PM at server restart

Killed him today on my Shaman at around 7:08 server time. (Pacific timezone) He dropped a Pristine Glowbear Pelt of the Necromancer which was Leather and had 85 stamina, 56 Hit and 66 Spellpower on it.

And for you hunters - Yes, I did check around for someone who would want to tame him. The only one who popped up in the next five minutes was a warrior who also wanted to kill him.

I would of tamed him myself, but my hunter is three levels lower and on the wrong server. >.<

Edit: Forgot to say he spawned at the bottom of the hill Amberpine Lodge is on, closest to the part where the ground smoothes out so a player can run down from the Lodge to the river and vice versa.

I got Arcturis about 12 hours after maintenance Tue evening about 10 pm my time (I'm in Alaska). Not only was he up but all the other Spirit Beasts were up as well (I checked all of them because I nabbed Skoll and Gondria the same night, would have gone for Loque as well but I had him from an earlier nab).

Just got this guy randomly right as I nabbed the fp from Grizzly Hills to Dalaran. Exited quickly as I could and hopped back on, waited until I landed in Zul'Farrak and turned back around. Luckily he was still there, just wandering up and down the hill.

I got Loque'nahak about a week ago after camping for MONTHS so after getting Loque and this guy within a week of eachother made my day :)

Incredibly, a couple of days after I heard about this pet, I decided to sit and watch the spot Arcturis spawns at, and less than 10 minutes later, he did! I damn near had a heart attack, but I was the only one there and I Tamed him asap. He spawned at 6.25am on the EU Wildhammer server.

i tamed this guy on my hunter at 8:38pm same day as post. heard there is 24 or 12 hour spawn. server fizzcrank. recommend addons npcscan, silverdragon, and addon macro bloodyrare. screen light up like christmas tree! make sure to clear npcscan cache!

Tamed 3/15/10 on US Blackwater Raiders at 6:52 am server time. I have seen his corpse twice before in the early morning.

While flying through Grizzly Hills to complete an Argent Tourny daily, I decided to cruise over Amber Pine Lodge to check on ol' Arcty. My heart nearly stopped when I saw him, then began racing; my hands shook! No other players around, dropped a trap and began taming.

While taming, I turned on capslock and threw a minor conniption fit in gchat. :)

Named him Chillpaw.

Single confirmed spawn point, at roughly 31-55, on hill slop near rivers edge just north of flight platform in Amberpine Lodge.

Spawn timer not confirmed, yet reports of 8-48hours between spawns have been reported.

I tamed on STONEMAUL and approx 1:30 AM server time after maybe 45 minutes of camping, simple freeze trap, concussive shot, tame, only got hit by his pounce, so be sure to set your trap at your own feet and do not move.

Just got him 9:30 eastern time. Simply wonderful. I closed the window, opened it back up, and there he was! It was simply amazing! First try only waited 4 hours :)

Tamed 10.00am 04 Dec 2022 on Remulos server, had been sitting there waiting since 9am.

I had been camping around the spawn point from 11am yesterday till 2am this morning.

Woke up at 9am and starting camping his spawn again.

Spawned at 10am and dropped my Freezing Trap and started the tame.

Very happy chappy here. Goodluck to anyone camping for him, hang in there it will happen.

Tamed him on the server Atiesh at 1:20 pm server time. Was on my hunter and a very nice person named Shannie announced him, joined up with me and waited for me to get there. It really made my day as he's the one I wanted to tame the most and hadn't had any luck thus far. It's people like Shannie that make the game a nice escape to hang out in.

I just tamed this beast right where they said he'd be. I was waiting around but getting bummed out reading some comments that said he spawns around 2-3am, seeing how's it was 9am...I flew around looking for the other spirit beasts, came back through and BAM! there he was! I tamed him around 9:30am. P.S. He hits hard for a 75 rare and pounced right past my trap. I had to feign death and try again. I laid the trap and tried again. Got him that time!

I hope Blizz makes it less late because it's very inconvenient to wait 12 hours for such a cool beast to spawn,i think 6 to 8 hours is better but thats my opinion.

love it finally find it on my hunter mid tame and a death knight comes by and kills it on me mid tame

should be reportable....

well i did and so did my guild mate that found it and had me come to him.

like wtf man. you flying by and see a hunter taming rare pet and think hmmmmm "TIME TO DISMOUNT AND !@#$ THIS GUYS DAY UP!"

hope a sane gm reads my report and bans your toxic ass
