for other kitties who decide to spam this on trash pulls, i find it nice to add /startattack with this on a macro in case my energy gets low between target deaths so that i don't lose valueable OOC proc chances

you might not choose to macro it the same way i did but i decided to put it on a macro modifier with shred

/startattack

it did require the rank to be declared

While this is an extraodrinary ability, there are ways to get even more AoE out of a feral dps spec:

Use swipe cat untill you have 0 energy.
Shift to bearform.
Use bearform swipe + glyphed maul for about 8 seconds
Shift back to cat, you now have 80 energy
Resume swipe (cat) ing.

This can allow you to in a 15 second gap doing instead of only 3 swipe cats a grand total of 3 swipe cats and 5 swipe bears, which is a increase of about 62%.

I must confess to being a noob here but I have to ask something to clarify because my interpretation of this doesn't seem to be correct according to my addons. I downloaded Mr Damage from curse to see the actual damage of a skill in the tooltip.

This skill says it's damage is based on weapon damage so with Staff of Trickery it would seem that the swipe damage is based on the 358-537 damage, not the 186.5 dps. Mr Damage says the damage is 1950

Last night in naxx i got Wraith Spear which has weapon damage 552-829 so I assumed that my swipe damage would go way up with basically 300 more top end damage but Mr Damage says the damage with the polearm is 1933.

I have different enchants on the weapons but I dont' know of the addon takes that into consideration (hit on the staff, mongoose on the polearm)

I'm just a bit confused for some reason, the polearm is an upgrade in all stats except the raw ap on the staff so i don't understand why the addon is saying it will put out less damage. sorry for being a noob about this but can somebody tell me what i'm not seeing?

after some very minimal testing, wraith spear does give me better dps, perhaps the addon is just not very accurate.

Sorry to burst your bubble here, but your have misunderstood a part of the Swipe ability... But when the ability says "inflicting 250% weapon damage." it means 250% of your Auto attack damage. When in druid form, weapon attack speed dont count since the forms got their own attack speed (in the case of cat form 1.00).

So when changed weapon the base attack speed in catform did not change (if you look away from the haste on the polearm ofc). So when you changed weapon and your attack power went down, the damage of your auto attacks in cat form went down.

That leading to Auto attack damage (or weapon damage, as the abilitys tooltips calls it) going down, the damage Swipe did 250% of went down it lead to the damage of Swipe going down too.
