Kind of a sad quest, really, but it is war...

On a side note, they can't attack you while youre hitting them with ranged attacks, and they don't evade (during this patch at least).

I hate Blizzard for doing these cruel quests.
Its same as in DK, ppl are frightened. When i ahd to kill my own race guy with 3hp, freakin unfair, i almost cired.
And now here, u have to kill ur ppl isntead of freeing them.

They may be bargaining for their lives as you kill them, but think of this. If you don't kill the captives, like the quests says for you to do, what do you think would happen to them? The Scarlet Onslaught isn't going to give them a slap on the hand and let them go, they would torture them, bleeding them of Horde secrets, and then leave them to die in a puddle of their own blood.

This is war and if the Scarlet Onslaught isn't a bunch of nice guys. If you can't free your sides captives, don't you think it's kinder to just put them out of their misery instead of letting the Onslaught play with their prey?

yeah this quest is brutal, killing guys in cages as they beg for their lives? feels like a DK quest, ouch.

my trick is (it may sound silly) pretend you are helping them fake their death so they can escape. i mean, hey, we can do anything we want in a game.

i think it's normal to feel bad and not want to do it, too bad there isn't another way to complete it

To all the people complaining this quest is cruel: you rolled a Horde, what were you expecting? The Horde is the "evil" faction. And as stated above, have you ever played a Forsaken? Most of the quests in Tirisfal, Silverpine, and Hillsbrad are like this.

And speaking of the Forsaken, you do know they're planning to kill every living thing on Azeroth, right...?

I really like the quest design in WotLK and how they are bringing more quests that give you the feeling of actual war. After all, it's world of WARcraft that we are playing. And war is cruel.

This is one of those quests that really puts forward the kind of person your character is.

Are you a member of the horde who believes in honor among your own, and sees the quest this insane banshee gives you as nothing to do with honor and allies, or are you just as cruel and twisted as she is, and willingly go along with it.

I have only ever done this quest once. I refuse to do it on any other of my characters for the moral fiber. Yeah its a game, but if you don't feel anything for the captured prisoners whos only crime was being captured, then your a little less human on the inside.

Screw that banshe @#$%^. If I had an alliance alt I'd fight into venomspike just to kill her.

There are several quests like this in the game. Quests that will tug at your heart. I did most of these the first time around... remember the demon that gives you a quest in Teldrassil that you get reprimanded for later and have to atone for? Yeah I skipped him the next character.

I'm going to skip these two quests (this one and it's follow-up) and won't be doing them unless I have to for the achievement. It was bad enough I brought three horses in to have their flesh eaten away before my very eyes.

As I am doing this quest on my orc warrior I can't help but smile. Back in the orc starting area they have you do some pretty evil things for honor. And this brings me back to those days i hunted down humans.

On topic however.
The way i see it is these undead knew what they were getting into. The undead kill their prisoners, or the prisoners bribe the hero (you) to bust'em out of there. And if they aren't smart enough to do that then off with their heads! No quests? No gold? No loot? pshh. One of them SAYS he'll give you double the gold but I don't think he was telling the truth (:<

Besides people, it's a game. I won't lie. I came to wowhead to see WHY I am killing these people exactly. But then I thought back to Bc..we killed gronn the dragonkiller ( I may have the wrong name.) Who killed black dragons. That's right folks, the enemy. And yet we killed the enemy of our enemy? I don't understand that. I don't understand a lot about this game. But hey, lewts lewt.

hmm you don't have choise to free them, thats stupid, and If you leave them alone they would be tortured for informations and then die anyway... so its better to kill them anyway... on war irl i wouldnt obey such command (and you got right to do so) but its game... (good that i didn't choose rp realm ;X )

Hahaha, if you're a hunter with a Warp Stalker pet he warps into the cage to kill them xD, it's actually quite funny to see a giant warp stalker knawing on someone in a small cage =)

This is one of the most controversially well-done quest made for Warcraft. This is war, unfortunately in retail we have to escort a puppy to his mother or accompany turtles to the water :S

My agents tell me that several of our good citizens have seen fit to fall into the hands of the Scarlet Onslaught.

This will not do.

Go back to New Hearthglen and eliminate Deathguard Schneider, Senior Scrivener Kinnedius, Engineer Burke and Chancellor Amai.

From what I hear, they're spread out throughout the area. No doubt they are being kept in cages awaiting torture.

Speak with them and then kill them!
