With only stamina, hit, and crit, this could actually be put to use by any dps class, both casters and melee/ranged. Not that I would personally recommend using an off-hand frill to melee and hunters (Like the Book of Clever Tricks... nice for everyone, but most classes would probably be better off with an off-hand weapon or a 2h ).

But who wouldn't pass up the chance to turn into a giant wolf?

The transformation uses the standard old-world wolf model. It looks like the Shaman Ghost Wolf without the translucency and is a bit larger. It has the same idle animations (scratch, sniff) and of course it can /dance. It shares its cooldown with the Super Simian Sphere. The transformation lasts 2 minutes and ends when the book is no longer equipped.
Druids: using it while in forms kicks you to caster form and switching from caster to another form cancels the transformation (tested with moonkin)

This item is actually a placeholder on the recipe. When you craft it, it makes one of several different Rituals at random that turn you into different color wolves: Red, White, Black, or Grey. Making several of these on PTR I managed to make White, Red and Black, but there is also Grey in the spells on PTR Wowhead so I think it's safe to extrapolate that is the last possibility. These rituals have the same item name and statistics but the Use line has the color you got in it. Different color rituals share a CD with each other as well.

I think perhaps the reason your wolf turns you into a single color is because the book is a specific color. You get a red, grey, white or black book. The text will say "turns you into a red wolf" or whatever. that's not random, only the book you make is random.

Apparently this is one of the single rarest items in all of northrend professions to find someone who can make. I've been trying for a week now on my server and not a soul can make it. It's well worth the effort to farm it, because so little people both to get it you can make and sell them for insane amounts of money having literally no competition on the server.

I'm fairly certain that any sane player on any RP realm that actually RPs hates this item with a burning, seething passion.

I know that if I see one more blood elf Deathknight with this thing claiming to be a werewolf and running amok for 2 minutes in the Wayfarer's Rest I'm going to find the developer that created this item and bludgeon them with a shoe.

Look. I am not a Twilight fan, but this has to be a reference.
In patch 3.1 two new off-hand books came out.
Twilight Tome
Rituals of the New Moon.
Twilight and New Moon are the first two books in the Twilight series.
Come on, I know it's not far fetched and I am not a fan or anything but it's obvious.
Oh, and they have stuff do to with werewolves.

The "New moon buff" has a 2 min durotation. If you remove the item from your offhand, the buff will go off.

Soooo.... Because the 'author' of the twilight series picked a whole bunch of cliches and everyday things means anything that's even vaguely similar=TWILIGHT REFERENCE!1! ...?

Seriously. Just... STOP it. You guys go back and pick ANY random song called 'twilight' and somehow say it's speaking about the book. I've seen morons commenting on Boa's (UK) song Twilight, saying it just SPEAKS about Bella and nopersonalitysparkledude. But the song has nothing to do with the book, and was made WAY before this 'book' was ever even thought of.

Not everything that has to do with cliches and everyday things just HAS to be linked to twilight, no matter when it was made.

The wolf buff has a 2 minute duration.
It seems to walk very slowly. You are silenced and pacified, so you can't cast any spells or use any abilities.
However, you can still eat/drink, use potions, craft and enchant items.

There are two fist weapons that drop from ZG (panther boss) -- that if you get both - chance on ranged/melee attack, you transform into a worgen looking thing for a few moments. Complete with sound effects.

I asked the daughter of a friend of mine, she's into Twilight, she tells me that these are the colors of the werewolfs, grey, red, white and black, in the novel. Haven't really check this out, but who's gunna argue with a ten year old girl? :)

And lol to all the ppl who downrate the ppl who find the popculture refs in WoW before they do, there's tousands of them in WoW, makes it a whole lot easier for those who write this 'lore' to add their favorite movies or books or what ever into the game, then having to come up with new stuff for every item, person, ect in WoW.

So this item was released in patch 3.1 which went live in April of 2009 and Twilight: New Moon was released nationwide in November of 2009. I can't see how the item is copying the movie that came after it. If anything Twilight copied WoW =P

Edit: Just want to clarify that the date I listed for the Twilight release date is for the movie in theaters, not the dvd.
