Because there's just not enough even non-useful stuff in Engineering to warant a 28 slot bag.

It's sad, but Blizzard completely lost the "path" for Engineering.
Engineering was: Powerful, but highly unreliable. Versatile, but a PITA to construct with all the diverse mats.
Engineering *is*: Epic goggles. Rocket Launcher for Goblins. (that's it)

The problem really is that they discontinued all the great ideas in engineering, without ever upgrading them.
Death Rays, Shrink Rays, Bomb Dispensers, Explosive Sheep, Net-O-Matics, Invisibility Cloak, all those things are *cool* to use. And they got downsides, backfires, all the stuff which defines typical engineering "work".

And in TBC, it's reduced to 2 types of grenades (the Goblin ones are too weak compared to the normal ones to warrant their horrible costs, the flameturret is a joke), only 1 useful trinket (Rocket Launcher - Chicken Ray doesn't work where it could be useful, in the arena), and only 1 useful gearitem (Goggles).

are you kidding me? I have a Fel Iron toolbox, and I have about 20 slots filled with useful items, and there are some items I still want to get. If these toolboxes were still in existence, I would have absolutely no problem filling it up.

The thing I love about engineering is when you make something, theres a good chance you are going to use it through the whole game. At level 66, I still carry around a gnomish cloaking device for example. I have a gnomish net-matic-projector that still comes in handy. I keep a parachute cloak handy. Another thing I've done, is as a goblin engineer there are some gnomish engineer items that can only be created by gnomish engineers, but can be used by any type of engineer (net-o-matic projector for example). Most of the backfires you'll find are within goblin engineering. there are a few outside of it, for example all the ultrasafe transporters in gnomish engineering have a possiblity of backfiring, but even then the backfire isn't anything drastic. The dimensional ripper: everlook's backfires are when you teleport to the place, theres a chance you'll be turned into a murloc and not be able to move for about 8 seconds, that you'll set on fire and take some damage, or gain a debuff called "evil twin" where a warlock can not summon you for an hour. All the backfires are very minor when they do occur, and occur very seldom. With my Goblin Dragon Gun, I wouldn't be surprised if the backfire happened less than a tenth of all uses. Also, you did mention the Goblin Rocket Launcher. I have that thing, and it's amazing. Against enemies my own level(level 66), I take away about 20% of their health from one blast. This thing only has a 2 minute cooldown, which I think is ridiculously low for what it does, but hell, I'm not complaining. It also gives a pretty nice boost to your stamina, +16.

Also, my personal opinion is that if you are a tank, engineering is amazing for you. I'm a prot specced paladin, and I love when I'm tanking for an instance and there are about 5 or so enemies on me, to just throw down a grenade or something. By the way, there are actually 4 types of useful grenades. Adamantite Grenades, Arcane Bombs(caster killer, silences all it hits for 5 seconds, drains about on average 900 mana, and does half of that as health damage), frost grenades(good for escaping any situation), and The Bigger One.

Engineering is my favorite profession. To me it is the most enjoyable, the best, and despite what you say, for the individual player the most useful. Ya, it's not like it's enchanting or anything, but I don't choose a profession unless it offers endgame benefits that only people who are of that profession have access to. I would never be an enchanter, and I would never be an alchemist.

The Rocket Launcher's Stamina bonus is +45, not +16.

I'd also like to point out that the beauty of engineering, and thus the shame in removing this bag, is that it provides us with a wide variety of situational advantages, which is where having a larger bag comes in. Not every engineered item is useful in every scenario, so the bag provides an easy storage place, as all bags should. I myself have 2 Fel Iron Toolboxes in my bank, and I STILL need more room sometimes. Trinkets alone can fill almost an entire bag, and consumables/explosives easily top off the rest of the space.

It seems this item and some others have been given mat lists and the picture/mouse over description is changed to that as if it were in game. Was this added or is this in the PTR or something? Thanks if anyone can let us know.

I'd like to point out that every other profession has some good resale value, some thing that everyone needs (enchants, gems, spellthreads, etc).
It's just another example of engineers getting screwed over.

I carry a fel iron toolbox on me, as well as one in the bank, and they're always full, if not almost full. With stuff like flying machines and shell/arrow machines out with the release of 2.3, as well as engineering toolboxes now being able to contain primal air, fire or earth, I don't see why they wouldn't have something like this. I'd sure like having a couple myself.

I would also like to add that motes will be moved to your toolbox by default, even if you already have a stack of them in another bag. It can be a little confusing!

Also, engineering isnt going to give you the I win items, but you cannot say it doesnt have A LOT of benefits, from making your own bullets to your own flying machine. You cannot underestimate the trinkets such as the rocket launcher and poultryizer and the epic goggles and the teleportation trinkets and the mind control hat and the death ray, etc etc etc.

Above all else, engineering is just plain fun and blizzard has supplied us engineers with alot of toys to enjoy :-) So cheer up, its not so bad!

yes this should be put into the game as the items i tend to carry are goblin jumpercablesxl, regualrgoblin jumpercables, gnomish cloaking device, the everlook transporter,the area52 transporter, goblin rocket launcher, plus all the bombs and parts i make along the way ,all the bombs, flying mount my bs hammer and the wrench plus all the motes that drop so yeah i have 2-24slots toolboxes in my bank and one equipped at all times

engineering is the most diverse profession in WOW because you can make a bomb that the lich king would be scared of on the goblin side or turn him into a chicken with the Poultryizer with engineering
the possibilities are endless so we need a bigger bag to fit what we can make now and the extra when WOTLK comes out

I have a alt with a guild vault filled with various bars, blasting powders, parts, contraptions, motes and a crap load of various things created by engineering. His bank also carrys two 20 slot engineering bags and my main carrys one twenty slot on him, and one in the bank. Engineering has so much stuff to keep up with it only seems right we should get a 28 slot bag.

I have to say I absolutely love being an engineer, and wouldn't have any other profession.

But honestly...are the four slots this bag would give you over the Fel Iron Toolbox really worth the amount of whining here?

Rocket Boots Extreme, Parachute Cloak, Deepdive Helm, Zapthrottle Mote Extractor, Goblin Jumper Cables XL, Gnomish Cloaking Device, Ultrasafe Transporter: Toshley's Station and a World Enlarger for &*!@s and giggles. Beyond that I use the extra space for motes/primals of fire, water, shadow, mana and earth, and a stack of Elemental Blasting Powder.

Now...I would -love- it if Blizzard made some of these engineering items more useful; a one hour cool-down on Gnomish Cloaking Device? Really? But until that happens you'll just have to take the space in your toolbox and fill it with useful things rather than merely nifty things, and take solace in the fact that opening an Eye of The Storm match with a combination of rocket boots and parachute cloak taking you directly to the flag will always, always = lulz

I may have missed it but theres NO blacksmithing bag in the game(u can use various other bags to hold ur mats like mining bags will hold bars but not bs plans/leather/grinding stones etc.) so b4 u post about how its unfair to have removed this from the game take a moment to realise that if a blacksmith wants to hold all his mats they need to carry a mining bag,a LW bag and various normal bags. Seeing as how blizz refuses to allow us change the 16 slot backpack the max bag slots a BS can have and still have a special bag for some mats is 50 slots(38 if he needs to carry a quiever or ammo pouch) and u still have to find space for plans and grinding stones until u make it to a bank/mail box for bank alt

I see what you're getting at but:

ALL the mats you use over, and over again can be stored in a mining bag. Okay grinding stones not, but you don't have to craft them out of stone before you use them up.

As for plans: Well i belive there is no good in carrying around plans, in any proffesion. I mean most people just go and put it in the bank and when their feel like they have eniugh mats to start smelting and blacksmithing/engineering/buying thread for lw or tailoring then they take out their hs go to a city and while at it they get out the mats they can learn from the bank.

And for the other mat sacks: Lether,gems and all other kind of stuff... Well if you hold a LW pounch and a mining bag then you are at the same spot as an engineer! We have mining+engineering, you have mining+LW... Others have heralism+inscription for exemple... The only 2 (usual) proff combination what only have one type of special sack (what i can think of rigth now) is LW-skinning and Tailor-Enchanter.

Still i give you a + since you spoted this little hole in the line what i never taugth of before, but think of what i said and you will see that it is not that much needed as it first seems.

To the main topic: I belive that why they didn't add the bag in wotlk is the "Tinker" Series. I mean the engineering version of the proffesional self buffs. Yes the gizmos you can add to your armor now! Also with the Gnomeish Combat Knife you have... hm flint and tinder 1; hammer 2; pick/knife 3; spanner 4; screwdriver 5, minus 1 for the combat knife it self so: 4 extra space! This is like if you would have this toolbox.

Still, i hope there will be a Khorium lock box in the future, butnothing more. With all the saved space thx to the "Tinkers" we don't need 32 slot. I personally can fit everithing i have in my fel iron tool box and the only problem i face sometimes is too much motes but never more then 2 stock.

So again: BLIZZARD! YOU COUNCIL OF AZEROTHIAN GODS! BRING US THE HOLY RELIC OF THIS' SCHEIMATIC! OR IF YOU SHALL SAY "NO" TO OUR NOBLE CAUSE WE SHALL USE THE GOBLIN WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION! Amen.

They Finaly added a larger toolbox than the Fel Iron Toolbox. It is the Titanium Toolbox. 32 slots to hold all those engineering gadgets you've saved up.

This was added ( back ) with 3.0.8 patch and the recipe is sold by Bryan Landers in a limited supply pack. The NPC can be found in Dalaran's Engineering Workshop.

Though it is only sold in limited supply. When I bought mine, ther were only 3 available.

For those who are confused, this item used to be called Khorium Toolbox and was in the database during TBC but marked as "not available to players"

In patch 3.0.8, however, Blizzard decided to reimplement the bag, and have renamed it Titanium Toolbox

Hope that clarifies some things

Engineering is a really fun profession to have but, Blizzard should add many new items like for exampel Jeeves and epic gear not just item level 200 noob guns. So filling this bag with good engineering stuff is hard, but still engineering is really fun and good to have.

I was reading on another site that this item was removed from the game. WTF Blizzard !, now I'm out farming some rare drop schematic because the rest of the schematics to reach 375 cost a fortune to make 1 item. This would at least be somewhat affordable even though it was green at 370. I could deal with making 20-30 of these for those last 5 skill points. Oh well, off to find a scope or rifle schematic ............ for the 4th night in a row. /grumble grumble.

EDIT - Information I got about this being removed was not correct. I was able to learn this schematic at 405 skill. It IS in game.

I'm a 80 NE hunter on Zul'Jin and I use this not only to store my engineering parts, but the arrow and bullet machines I make so I have plenty of ammo in stock! One for the Arrow makers, and one for the Bullet makers =D
