Any info on whether this stacks with the paladin auras, shaman totems or and what have you other resistance buffs?

If not, I reckon this to be a bit useless in a raid setting since this is much weaker than the level 80 versions of all the other resistance buffs and you'll likely have someone around who's capable of giving the single big resistance buff that's going to be needed in Generic Resistance Boss X.

Of course if Blizzard decides to implement some gimmick boss where a tiny bit of each resistance is going to be useful for some reason...

Here's an interesting question:

Does it give you holy resistance?

There really is no such thing as holy resistance by itself, but holy dmg is mitigated along with other abilities that mitigate all types of spell damage as a whole.

And thus we have a paradox: holy "resistance" does not technically exist, but holy damage is affected by the almighty keyword "spell'.

At lvl 80 rank 2 this gives you 0.8 x level resistance or 64 resistance to all, and 4% more health. With 16000 health, thats roughly 640 extra health. Very nice talent for 2 points.

At level 80 this talent gives only 80 resistance to all. Aura from paladins and totems from shaman gives 130 resistance so they should still be used despite having this aura in the party.

This aura, however is valuable in the situation that there is no other resistance aura in the party, for example in heroic dungeons. In raid, people usually bring paladin and shaman, but this still helps in case there are more than one magic school used by the mobs and boss.

Frost Tank DK should still take this IMHO, because it stacks with Acclimation like stated above.

Frost DPS DK can pass this if the party does not expect you to have this aura.

Good talent that stacks with acclimation, but it takes a back seat to paladins, hunters, and shamans 130 resistance buffs if it is available.

Has anyone tested if this overwrites the resistance bonus of Mage Armor?

Since both are all-around bonuses instead of specific schools I can see them choosing the Aura's 80 res. over the Armor's 40, but since the armor is a self-only buff and has other benefits I'm not sure how it'd go.

Also, one thing to keep in mind is that the Shaman, Pally and Hunter bonuses are 130 each instead of 80 (a difference of ~9.4% damage reduction at 80). So it may be worth while in very heavy single-school magic fights to have one of theirs still.

Well i guess they figured out a way to make this stack without breaking their "no resistance abilities stack" rule.

Spell damage reduced by 4% while in frost presence is effectively spell resistance without it being spell resistance, and will be able to stack with GOTW or other resistance abilities. Although now it only effects the DK and not everyone in the group. I could see frost tanks actually taking this talent now.

I really like the 3.1 change. 10% more health at all times is always helpful, and 4% less damage from all magical effects is great as a tank (granted, I'd rather that DKs weren't losing so much of their magic mitigation....). The Resistance buff almost always gets overshadowed by other buffs (Pally Auras, Shaman Totems, and GotW especially), so right now it's little more than a sink for T points that you can't find a better place for.
