For warriors who are tanking for instances. But they don't wanna switch back from Battle Stance to Defensive stance just use this. The rage will gain one per second. The cooldown is one minute which is very nice for people who like their rage high (like me.)

As of 2.2 this skill will not put a warrior into combat, so you can bloodrage, mount up and charge someone to get off a nice hamstring + sweeping strikes.

For me, with about 13.5k health unbuffed, I don't notice this taking my health. In fact, I didn't even realize it took health until I read a comment on the warrior forum here. To me, this is a 'free rage' button. I might just test this out to see how much health it actually takes.

As of 2.4.2. this ability, as well as Berserker Rage now make a new sound. The "Rrrl Rrrl Rrla!" noise that was made in Warcraft II when you Bloodlusted an Ogre-Mage.

I also feel its worth stating that you cannot blood rage to death but is highly ill advised,near death, 711 hp is good for a few more hits in some cases. the 711 hp for me could just be the straight 16% of my naked lvl 70 night elfs stamina is, but might not. Someone confirm?

and yes, the sound is ogre noise and completely annoying

I use this on just about every pull as a prot warrior.It puts a nice bit of agro on them as the run to you.

You can be healed to make up for the health loss while under this effect (obviously) and bandages and racial's ( Ie Cannibalize) Do work and do regenerate health while under this effect....

When you leave combat you loose rage at an average of 1 rage a second till it is gone.

When you use Bloodrage you are damaged for 16% of your base Health
(8% with Gyph of Bloodrage)

You can use Bloodrage to generate 10 rage instantly, and another 10 rage over 10 seconds.
(When talented Improved Bloodrage generates 15 rage instantly, and another 15 rage over 10 seconds)

This effect stops the loss of rage while active, meaning you can use it to preserve your current rage out of combat for 10 seconds before it starts to decay again.

This ability can be used multiple times depending on the duration of a fight, as well as having alternate uses at different times of combat which i will list in order.

Pre-fight with no rage

- You can use Bloodrage in situations where there is a minute or more down time in a group allowing Bloodrage to become available again before combat but still give you and your group members a shout entering combat. Since shouts last 2 minutes untalented, 3 Minutes with Booming Voice, and Battle Shout can receive an extra 1 minute duration from Glyph of Battle.
(Battle Shout's Max duration 4min, Commanding Shout's Max duration 3min)

- You can use Bloodrage to generate enough rage to cast Battle shout, or Commanding Shout and still have some left over.

-You can use Bloodrage to generate enough initial rage to quickly AoE multiple mobs before party members pull threat.

- You can use Bloodrage if you are having trouble gaining rage at the start of a fight due to a variety of reasons like the enemy being shielded (absorbed damage generates no rage), the enemy not striking you enough (your dodge/parry/block chance is to high), or if they just are not doing you enough damage (only one mob, or you have a damage reduction effect active going in)

Mid-fight

- You can use Bloodrage as a temporary supplement to your normal white damage rage generation if you find yourself needing to use Heroic Strike (Which untalented costs 15 rage, and causes your next white damage Melee attack become Yellow damage generating 0 rage), or if the enemy has damage reduction/avoidance abilities.

- You can use Bloodrage as a temporary supplement to your normal damage taken rage regeneration if you have damage reduction effects active upon you. Such as but not limited to, Shield Block, Shield Wall, Spell Reflection, Pain Suppression, Power Word: Shield, and Divine Aegis.

-You can use Bloodrage to quickly give enough rage to use AoE abilities, but still keep up your normal attack rotation after without being rage starved.

End-fight

- Towards the end of a fight you may want to use bloodrage to quickly increase your availble rage for high cost damage abilities like Heroic Strike and Shield slam. Thus allowing you to go all out since many creatures Enrage, or use high damage abilities when near death that can easily cause your death or the death of party members if they persist for to long.

- Towards the end of a fight if you have a fair amount of rage you may not want to use Bloodrage this is because after the fight ends you can use it to stop the decay of your rage for ten seconds and adding another 20 rage on top. This is great for keeping your rage up when you are just stopping to mark or walk to your next target. (Also causing white damage and using Charge on the low level critters found everywhere helps to keep your rage high between fights)

*Also keep in mind that in high damage boss fights, fights where the healers mana has run out, or close fights on your own using Bloodrage can actually make it harder for you since it damages you for 16% of your base health (8% Gyphed) every time you use it, and if your receiving that much damage you should not be hurting for rage anyways.

I have a macro to start the fight with heaps of rage. Works in battle stance and defensive stance with Warbringer.
/cast Charge
/cast Berserker Rage
/cast Bloodrage

Bloodrage is now free rage button with the change to Glyph of Bloodrage to reduce cost of health by 100%.

Latest PTR build 10072 Changes

Bloodrage now generates 20 rage instantly, and an additional 10 rage over 10 seconds.

Anyone else notice that it not says 200 rage over 10 seconds? If that's true, that is insane. So basically, once a minute you get over flooded with rage?

You cannot gain health from eating food while you are gaining rage from this. You can, however, use bandages.

My level 80 warrior currently does not have any points in Imp. Bloodrage, yet the tooltip says "Generates 20 rage at the cost of health, and then generates an additional 13 rage over 10 sec."

13? Not 10?

My only guess is that its taking into account my Anger Management talent in the Arms tree.

trick for low lvl dwarf warrs: cast this+Stoneform , u will generate rage while giving yourself a little extra protection to save you from mobs taking advantage of your health going down slightly

all the posts on bloodrage are so old..
and so will this one, eventually.

anyhow, this is an 'aggro-bomb' as i call it, hence protection.
the extra rage can be used for one more move or such when doing damage, but each point of rage gained also makes you gain 5 aggro or so.
(so, 10 instant rage + 10 over 10secs = 50 aggro + 50/10secs)
(the talent will give you an extra initial rage gain, and hence a higher threat gain.)
very useful for 'sheep pulls' or whenever some other class pulled, and there's about 3-4 mobs you need to take aggro off pretty quick...

read something about it on warrior forums, helps checking 'the real deal' (WoW official forums, get all your stuff there.)

The reason there arent many posts is because Bloodrage is a simple ability, you pop it when you need rage nothing more then that

I always thought it was, like, someone that was really pissed off, and someone was pointing at him. You know, some of wow's icon's can be kind of confusing until you look at them closely. I always thought that a Paladin's Seal of Command (I think ) was...who knows what. But looking closely I see it's a guy wearing a helmet, with only the helm and shoulders visible.

Blood Rage really saps life later on at lvl 70 especially for new level 70s.

I am now geared and I usually take more damage from a BR than I do from a single lvl 70 mob.

I like to think of it as trying to stress yourself and raise your blood pressure than popping a hernia.

10 rage over 1 second followed by 1 rage per second for 10 seconds, for 20 rage total.

The amount of health lost increases as level increases. It may be based on a percentage of base hit points, as it appears to be a fairly consistant percentage, disregarding effects such as fortitude.
