Truly an sad trinket when you compare how expensive its mats are with how powerful it is.

On my server the overall price would be something like:
Eternium bars are usually ~3g/bar so: ~25g
Spinels are pretty much priceless but lets say you got them "cheap" from someone who robbed their gbank: 2x500g 1000g
Primal Fires are 25g/primal so: 200g

~1225g for a trinket like this. Would you pay for that?

You guys are missing the point, this isn't for people to buy the mats off the AH.

This is for people who have been raiding BT already and have tons of those gems in the GB already.

Thats like saying why use a 20 AP gem when you can use a 16 AP gem for much less money,
its not a matter of cost, its a matter of being in a guild that gets the gems already.

This item makes for a fantastic Pally tank trinket. Many Pallies like myself use Darkmoon Card: Vengeance for stamina. This trinket provides nearly the same stamina boost, while also providing bonus mana and on-demand spell-damage for threat. Fantastic. :)

Naturally all tanks will benefit from the high stamina, but tankadins will truely make full use of this item.

Combine this with Empyrean Tortoise and you'll have a knockout tanking combo!

It's like Blizzard "forgot" to add a very important stat to this item. Adding 30-40 static spell damage would make this item be on par with the mats required and supposed quality. This is nothing close to on par with other items being released in 2.4 to help people progress.

This trinket is truly great for PvP casters (who are lucky enough to have JC)... consider the ones they use at the moment:
Battlemaster's Depravity
Battlemaster's Audacity
Icon of the Silver Crescent and similar ones with on-equip Spell Damage and Spell Damage on-use
And soon in 2.4: Battlemaster's Alacrity

PvP (arenas) weigh heavily on having survivability - squishy cloth wearing casters especially - so having a permanent large boost to Stamina is excellent, considering it combines with the intellect boost and the powerful trinket on-demand.

Basically compare it to having either:

+47 Spell Damage constant, with 1750 health every 3mins (580HP/1min) (you lose the HP again after 20secs, so it's not exactly equivalent to a heal, it just lets you last until you get heal)
+43 Spell Damage constant, +155 Spell Damage every 2mins (=~26 Spell Dmg constant)
+40 Spell Crit constant, +1750 health every 3mins (lost after 20secs)

To this new trinket:

490 health and 330 mana constant, 150 Spell Dmg every 2 mins (=~25 Spell Dmg constant)

Having such a big boost to health constantly (it is about 4 or 5% extra if you have 10-11k HP) with the added mana and a powerful on-demand Spell Dmg boost, makes this a great trinket for PvP.
It's great for survivability, but for pure damage then maybe the new spell haste trinket (Battlemaster's Alacrity), or the Icon of the Silver Crescent are alternatives.

The mats, yes are quite high, but if you've got the 375 JC and also revered with Shattered Sun Offensive (new daily quest faction), then you should have quite a fair amount of money from at least getting revered or from JC. Prospect and sell the gems FTW :)

Also, for warlocks in PvE this is also great since health = mana (ignoring the GCD from lifetap) pretty much.

+The on Use. Sure, the mats are expensive now, just wait till more guilds have BT/Hyjal on farm, not to mention the epic gems from sunwell.

As a Protection Paladin, I currently use the "lesser" version of this trinket along with the 51 stamina darkmoon card. Typically I will pop the LR trinket (5 min cooldown) with Avenging Wrath (3 minute cooldown) to get a nice threat lead for my dps'ers.

Not only is this amazing from a stat increase point of view, but the reduced cooldown to 2 minutes makes this a must have. Previously it was tough to synch up the cooldowns with Avenging Wrath, but 2 minutes makes this much easier. Think about this time line 0 - (Trinket+AW), 2 - (Trinket), 3 - (AW), 4 - (Trinket), 6 - (Trinket+AW), repeat. This AMAZING (150 or 195) boost to spell damage will allow me (pally tanks) to swap in some more stam/mitigation Warrior gear rather than spell damage Paladin gear. Pretty much all the Protection Paladin badge gear in 2.4 is total crap, I'll be saving my badges for Gems and Nethers.

yay more panzerkin gear... actually on a balance druid it'd work out to about 3 mana per 5 8 spell damage, bit less than half a percent of spell crit and some 400 mana, reasonable for pvp or on fights where you could simply use a nice hunk of stamina with a better ondemand ability than pendant of the violet eye.(which although not ideal for balance makes up for a lot of shortfalls in the mana department)

Okay, so people seem to agree that this is a great trinket for Protectadins/Tankadins and casters in PvP. What about casters in PvE?
This trinket gives a lot of Stamina which may come in handy at bossfights with big AoE attacks or attacks that affects random targets (Naj'entus comes to mind). In addition to that the Intellect lets you keep a bit more mana and gives you a little bit of spell critital. The use-ability gives 5 less spell damage then the Icon.
Is this trinket totally out of the question for PvE...? Or maybe usable in some encounters where big HP is a plus? I doubt it'll be useful overall, as it has no passive bonuses that increase DPS (except for a bit of crit). I really wish they would also give us an upgraded version of the Icon or something like that!

EDIT: Hm, I'm Elemental Shaman, maybe I could use the Stamina when kiting striders (if my guild ever gets a chance to try Vashj again).

For a Boomkin this trinket will also provide 8 +DMG and 3 MP5, due to the intellect boost otherwise unattainable in the slot. All classes will also obtain approximately 0.4% chance to crit with spells. Not great, but every little bit, right?

I hate how theres an AP on equip with an AP on use trinket ( ), and an ap on equip plus a guardian (will admit thats pretty useless) but no Spell Damage on equip + Spell Dmg on use. Youd be better off using

I have it on my pvp affli warlock and its so great. It was a little expensive (about 1400g) but it worst it.

How would I know if you can equip more than one of these trinkets? Because I have tried to equip epic gems that I created as a JC and it only allows one of the type so I wonder if thats the case with the trink.
