Tigole has posted the following regarding this achievement

We removed the mask achievement from the "Hallowed Be The Name" meta-achievement

This will go live in 3.0.3 and will most likely happen during the event.

If you happen to fulfill all of the criteria with the exception of the 20 mask criteria before that patch goes live the achievement will stay incomplete until the day patch 3.0.3 goes live. As soon as the patch goes live, you'll have the achievement as well as the title.

I can't believe you guys are arguing about whether it's a reference to Iron Maiden or the Lord's Prayer. (Wait, this is wowhead.. of course I believe it..)

The Iron Maiden song is a reference to the Lord's Prayer. So the Lord's Prayer is clearly the source of the phrase used in the title. I'm sure if you look harder, you can find other pop culture references to the phrase "Hallowed Be Thy Name", but those will also be referring to the Lord's Prayer, so...

It's a clever play on words between the "Hallow's End" holiday, Halloween (which is a shortened version of "Hallowe'en", which itself is a shortened version of "All Hallows' Even", which is the day before "All Hallows' Day"), and the word "Hallowed" as used in the Lord's Prayer.

And for the curious, the word "Hallow" is related to the word "holy", so Blizzard deciding to call the day "Hallow's End" to represent the day that the Forsaken broke free of the control of the Lich King is a little odd. Hallow's End roughly means "the end of that which is holy".

I have a 70 Druid on Runetotem and i just need the mask achievement to get the title, but if the achievement gets removed, then i will most likely be the first on the server to have the title! ^.^

It's extremely doubtful you're the only one on your server who has progressed that far in the achievement... There are at least 4 people in my guild alone who will have this the moment 3.0.3 hits

Hmm...this is practically the perfect title for a paladin or priest, with hallowed meaning holy.

Coincidentally, it's not very fitting though for a warlock or a death knight. A holy man summoning demons or legions of undead, though it is a little humorous.

Would I be wrong in thinking that the easiest way to get this would be to join a WG raid group on defense? I know that I rack up honor in there, but I am not a big pvper so I don't know if this would work. Anyone with more knowledge have any thoughts?

In the instance stated above; either way you look at it, it is still a reference to the Lord's prayer. Metallica uses the Lord's Prayer in their song. Therefore, it's a reference to the prayer...

They didn't end up adding Northrend to the Tricks and Treats. You still only need Outland, and Azeroth.

Here is a quick guide to this Event that I put together for my guild. I figured I would share it here as well. It's just a simple 5-step guide to completing the achievements necessary for Hallowed Be Thy Name.

1. Run the following daily quests at least 10 times: "Let the Fires Come!", Stop the Fires!. These reward Weighted Jack-o'-Lanterns which you need for the Check Your Head achievement.

2. Log in as often as you can to "Trick or Treat" at an Inn. You can do this at most once per hour, but each time you have the chance to get a Tooth Pick, which you use to complete That Sparkling Smile. You also have a chance to get the Hallowed Helm or Sinister Squashling which are both required for Sinister Calling. The innkeepers also reward Filmsy Masks which you need for both The Mask Task and A Mask for All Occasions. (Note: A Mask for All Occasions is not required for the Hallowed By Thy Name meta-achievement.)

3. The Tricks and Treats achievements are straightforward - visit all of the inns in Kalimdor, Eastern Kingdoms, and Outlands and get a handful of candy out of each candy bucket. Be sure to talk to an innkeeper every hour while doing this to "Trick or Treat." Save your G.N.E.R.D.s, for the G.N.E.R.D. Rage achievement. Eat your other candy in one sitting until you get an upset tummy for Out With It (you'll want to wait until you have a nice stash - it takes about 10 to get sick).

4. Kill the Headless Horseman as often as possible (he is 80 now, but reportedly easy, possibly solo-able). He drops some important things including Weighted Jack-o'-Lantern, Hallowed Helm, and the Sinister Squashling. This makes him one of the key ways to collect items for the various achievements. He also drops a couple mounts (The Hourseman's Reins, and Magic Broom), so he's well worth the effort. You summon him with the Call the Headless Horseman daily dungeon quest, so planning carefully you should be able to kill him multiple times a day as a group.

5. There are a couple achievements that can be completed after Hallow's End is over, although it will probably be harder. They involve items that can be obtained through the Daily quests, killing the headless horseman, and trick-or-treating in the inns. These include The Masquerade and Check Your Head. Check your head might actually be easier after the event is officially over since less people will be walking around as pumpkin heads...

-There is a decent amount of PvP I getting this title, which I must say I'm very happy about. =)
-There is two achievements I'm a little worried about getting is "The Masquerade" and "Sinister Calling". =P
-"The Masquerade" because I don't know exactly how to get the wands, and I'm worried about actually being able to find somebody else with them.
-"Sinister Calling" just because the drop rates are kind of low on the boss, and you only have so many chances to get them from the bags, but the drop rates are barely decent, and I guess since we got Northrend now to help it out, but it's not that many more inns anyways, but it still helps I guess.

It's actually All Hallows Eve, which is the eve of All Saints Day. So yes, it is a religious reference with roots in the Roman Catholic Tradition.

i only need the sinster calling the one with the hallowed helm and the pet sooo lol both of them have dropped its just that people have been gettting it but me so i hope to get it sooo i can get the hallowed title i almost had brewfest title i couldnt get it beacuase i didnt logg on for like 3 days and i didnt do thoose dalies thoose days lol i whuz like $h!t i whuz soo close to get it all i need was the chest peice and then get drunk and dance in darlan *sigh* i didnt

I got this today with my level 54 Mage. Everything was quite easy, except for that damn Tooth Pick - I couldn't get it for few days. Imagine how awesome it was to get every Candy Bucket in Outland on a ground mount, when every single mob attacks you even if you walk very far from it. : ) Done without guild help ('cause I'm guildless).
